BASEL OFFICE - Junior Ship Support Operations Manager

Viking, a worldwide provider of experiential travel, operates a fleet of more than one hundred vessels that sail rivers, oceans and all continents. The Junior Ship Support Operations Manager will work in the Basel office, reporting to the senior manager and assisting the Ocean Procurement group for both ocean‑going and expedition ships. The daily work revolves around handling all purchasing matters for assigned vessels. This includes tracking purchase orders from request through delivery, managing urgent or delayed shipments, liaising with suppliers and port agents, and addressing pricing or quality issues. The role also supports invoicing, maintains master data for specifications and suppliers, monitors compliance with purchasing rules, and helps schedule maintenance for hotel‑service equipment. Regular analysis of supplier performance and preparation of operational reports are also part of the routine. Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply‑chain management or a related discipline, and one to two years of experience coordinating logistics or procurement, preferably within the cruise sector. Proficiency with Excel is required, and basic knowledge of SQL or Power BI is advantageous.
