The Post-Doctoral Fellow will lead a dedicated research project focused on creating an oral history archive. This archive will document feminist activism and children's rights advocacy in response to child sexual assault in New South Wales from the 1980s to the present. The project aims to preserve first-hand accounts from key activists, advocates, and other stakeholders, providing a comprehensive history of child sexual assault in Australia. The Fellow's main responsibilities include liaising with stakeholders and interview participants, developing interview protocols, and managing ethics processes. They will conduct interviews, coordinate transcripts, and code interviews. Additionally, the role involves organizing materials for archive cataloguing and digitizing, accessing personal archives, and preparing materials for storage. The Fellow will also undertake preliminary literature reviews, contextual historical research, and prepare funding applications. To qualify, candidates must have a PhD or equivalent experience in History, gender/cultural studies, or sociology. Experience in oral history and qualitative interviewing, particularly on sensitive topics, is essential. Candidates should also demonstrate awareness of trauma-informed and feminist methodologies and have a relevant research or work experience record. Nice-to-have skills include familiarity with the UNSW ethics processes and compliance requirements. The role is based at the UNSW Kensington Campus in Sydney, NSW, and offers career development opportunities, 17% Superannuation contributions, additional leave loading payments, and extra leave over the Christmas period. The position is a 12-month fixed-term contract, part-time at 14 hours per week. What the role asks for: - A PhD (or equivalent experience) in History or a related field, such as Gender/Cultural Studies or Sociology. - Experience in Oral History and/or qualitative interviews, particularly on sensitive topics. - Proven knowledge in trauma-informed and feminist methodologies. - Evidence of research and/or professional experience relevant to the project's topics.
