Propellant Chemist

Destinus, a developer of advanced unmanned aerial vehicles for defense, is looking for a Propellant Chemist to lead the creation and testing of solid‑rocket propellants and thermal‑protection materials that power its high‑performance motors. The position sits at the heart of the company’s propulsion innovation, turning material concepts into flight‑ready solutions. In this hands‑on role you will design and refine propellant formulas, manage laboratory‑scale mixing, casting, curing and post‑processing while adhering to safety and quality rules. You will set up and run mechanical, thermal, rheological, ballistic, ablation and ageing tests, document procedures and acceptance limits, and link material data to motor performance. You will also support process definition for manufacturing, investigate any material anomalies, and produce detailed technical records, working closely with propulsion, structures, manufacturing and test groups. The job requires a BSc or MSc in chemical engineering, materials science, chemistry, aerospace engineering or a related field, plus at least five years of experience with solid‑rocket propellant or comparable polymer/composite systems. Proven skills in formulation, mixing, casting, curing and comprehensive material characterization are essential, as is fluency in English; German is advantageous. The role offers a fast‑growing, global environment where laboratory and pilot‑scale work directly influences cutting‑edge aerospace projects.
