GNC Engineer

Harmattan AI develops cutting‑edge autonomous defense platforms and is scaling after a recent $200 million Series B round that lifted its valuation to $1.4 billion. The company seeks a GNC Engineer to join the UAV group, where you will create and refine guidance, navigation and control capabilities for unmanned aircraft that support allied forces. In this position you will craft sophisticated navigation and sensor‑fusion algorithms, design flight‑control laws and generate trajectory plans, and move those concepts from virtual testing to embedded hardware and real‑world flight trials. Daily tasks include building filtering and estimation methods to ensure reliable performance, running large‑scale Monte‑Carlo, software‑in‑the‑loop and hardware‑in‑the‑loop simulations, and dissecting flight‑test data to improve the models. You will also collaborate on full‑stack integration of GNSS, INS/IMU, localization and fusion modules, while maintaining a flight‑proven computer that serves several UAV variants. The role requires an engineering degree (bachelor's or master's) in computer science, engineering or a comparable technical discipline, together with at least three years of experience in aerospace GNC systems. A solid grasp of control theory, estimation techniques and sensor integration is essential. Candidates must be fluent in Python and embedded C/C++, familiar with simulation environments such as Gazebo, and comfortable using Git for source control. Experience with open‑source autopilot stacks like PX4, Ardupilot or Betaflight, plus practical electronics abilities, including debugging, soldering and cable harnessing, are also mandatory. A personal interest in first‑person‑view (FPV) piloting is considered a plus, reflecting the hands‑on culture of the team.
