Junior Research Assistant

Nestlé Research is looking for a Junior Research Assistant in Packaging Safety, based in Vers‑chez‑les‑Blanc, Switzerland, working permanently from the office. The role supports the company’s aim to create sustainable, innovative packaging for people, pets and the planet by developing and validating analytical methods for new coated paper packaging. Each day you will help build reliable analytical procedures that evaluate the safety and performance of novel packaging, carry out characterization tests, and turn raw results into clear documentation for quality, research and project teams. You will also assist in moving these methods into production, guiding users throughout the method’s life‑cycle, and contribute to consistent quality and safety practices across sites while collaborating with internal and external partners to stay current on packaging safety science. The position requires a Master’s degree in chemistry, analytical chemistry or a related field, together with a solid interest in analytical sciences and sustainable packaging. You should be familiar with techniques such as gas chromatography‑mass spectrometry, liquid chromatography‑high‑resolution mass spectrometry or other material‑characterisation methods, and have practical laboratory experience from academic projects, internships or research. Strong analytical thinking, meticulous data handling, problem‑solving and scientific writing abilities are essential, as are working knowledge of English and French.
