The Avionics Hardware Engineer role at Destinus focuses on creating the electronic systems that power advanced unmanned aerial vehicles. Destinus develops high‑performance UAVs for defense customers worldwide, delivering speed, precision and cost‑effective solutions to government and military agencies. In this position you will be responsible for designing, developing and testing flight‑computer hardware, handling everything from schematic capture and PCB layout to preparing manufacturing files. You will manage the full hardware lifecycle, gathering requirements, building prototypes, bringing up hardware and validating performance. Daily tasks include writing and maintaining Linux‑based test‑bench scripts, acting as the main technical liaison for your hardware modules, and performing system integration, functional testing, fault handling and diagnostics on both laboratory and field equipment. You will also support flight‑test preparation, telemetry monitoring and on‑site operations while maintaining rigorous documentation and design‑review processes. The role requires a bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical, aerospace or computer engineering or a comparable field, plus at least two years of hands‑on experience developing avionics or similarly complex hardware in aerospace, automotive or robotics. Candidates must be proficient in PCB design tools such as Altium or KiCad, and skilled in writing Python, C/C++ or Bash scripts for hardware validation on Linux. Familiarity with embedded C/C++ programming on microcontrollers like STM32, strong troubleshooting abilities with oscilloscopes and logic analyzers, and solid knowledge of serial interfaces (SPI, I2C, CAN, UART) are essential. A highly organized, detail‑oriented mindset and excellent communication skills are also required. While the description does not list additional preferred qualifications, the position offers the chance to work on cutting‑edge UAV technology within a multidisciplinary team that blends hardware, software and systems engineering. The fast‑paced environment encourages ownership of projects from concept through flight‑ready implementation, providing a platform for engineers eager to shape the future of defense aerospace.
