Guidance, Navigation & Control Engineer

The position of Guidance, Navigation & Control Engineer places you at the heart of an exo‑atmospheric interceptor program within the Bliksem Exo consortium, a four‑nation European effort led by Destinus. Destinus, the prime contractor, builds affordable, high‑volume anti‑ballistic missile systems and also advances cutting‑edge unmanned aerial vehicles for defence customers worldwide. In this role you will be responsible for creating and maintaining a six‑degree‑of‑freedom flight simulator that serves as the reference for vehicle performance. You will devise navigation and estimation strategies throughout the flight, control the error budget during hand‑over, and develop the terminal guidance that determines final engagement success. Managing the terminal miss budget, you will quantify how sensor noise, timing, and disturbances influence overall accuracy. Designing and tuning control laws for each flight phase, you will evaluate stability and robustness across the operating envelope, run extensive simulation campaigns under nominal and extreme conditions, and convert the results into concrete vehicle and subsystem requirements while collaborating closely with the broader engineering team. Candidates must hold a BSc, MSc or PhD in aerospace engineering, control engineering, applied mathematics or a related discipline, and bring more than ten years of GNC experience on missiles, interceptors, spacecraft, launch vehicles or comparable high‑performance platforms. Proven expertise in at least two of guidance, navigation/estimation, and control, together with a comprehensive grasp of the full GNC loop, is required.
