Mechanical CAD Designer (TE-MSC-SMT-2026-195-LD)

CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, studies the universe's fundamental structure. As a Mechanical CAD Designer in the Superconducting Magnet Technology section, you will create 3D CAD models and detailed drawings for novel magnets and tooling. You will prepare and update models of prototypes, integrate construction feedback, discuss tolerances and machining, support component procurement, and assist with CNC and simulation models. What the role asks for: - Higher technical diploma in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) - Proficiency in CATIA or similar modern 3D CAD software - Experience with PLM database (e.g., Enovia, SmarTeam) - Knowledge of ISO‑GPS dimensioning and tolerancing - Fluent English or French, willing to learn the other language - Valid driving licence - Stand‑by duty as required - Knowledge of superconducting magnet construction (nice‑to‑have) - Experience with CNC machining model preparation (nice‑to‑have)
