Senior Compliance Manager

Trafigura, one of the world’s largest independent, employee‑owned commodities groups, operates across metals, minerals, oil, gas, power and renewables, linking producers and consumers through a global network of logistics, finance and infrastructure. The Senior Compliance Manager joins the firm’s worldwide Compliance function, supporting the Chief Compliance Officer in shaping and continuously improving the Group’s compliance programme. In this role you will interpret and apply complex sanctions regimes, assess their impact on trading activities and update related policies. You will handle escalated queries on gifts, entertainment and third‑party payments, investigate potential breaches of the Code of Business Conduct, and act as the point of contact for non‑standard KYC and AML matters. Additional duties include driving AI‑related compliance projects, maintaining and creating training material, coordinating system and policy improvement initiatives, and assisting with internal and external audits as well as the annual global risk review. The position requires a compliance or legal professional with a minimum of ten years’ relevant experience, including hands‑on work with sanctions programmes, screening processes and trade‑control interpretation. Candidates should have a background in commodities trading and shipping with significant international exposure, and possess deep knowledge of corporate compliance areas such as anti‑bribery, AML, trade sanctions and market abuse. Familiarity with European regulatory frameworks—particularly Swiss, EU, UK, US sanctions and EMIR/MiFID II—alongside AML/KYC operational experience in a financial‑services or trading setting is essential. Strong IT, organisational and project‑management abilities, coupled with excellent written and spoken English, are also required. Desirable experience includes working with Relativity and leading AI‑driven compliance initiatives.
