Head of Legal IT and Operations 80-100%

The Head of Legal IT and Operations sits inside Zurich’s Group Legal Department, supporting a multinational insurer that serves tens of millions of customers worldwide. In this senior capacity you will steer a legal unit that advises internal partners on all matters linked to strategic sourcing and technology deployment. Your everyday work will centre on providing counsel for procurement and IT‑related contracts, covering e‑commerce, digital platforms and the rollout of new services. You will draft and negotiate sourcing agreements, including large international outsourcing deals, tailor advice to the various insurance lines, manage intra‑group terms, aid Zurich Capability Centres across the globe, and lend board‑secretariat support where needed. Leading a small team of two specialised lawyers also forms part of the remit. Applicants need a law degree with bar admission, preferably Swiss, and at least ten years of experience in contract drafting and negotiation, especially within IT, digital distribution and related regulatory topics in the insurance or financial sector. Knowledge of captive reinsurance contracts is required, as is strong negotiating talent, excellent communication skills, and fluency in both English and German; additional languages are a plus. Desirable attributes include postgraduate study or work experience abroad and a track record of coordinating cross‑border legal projects. The position is based at Zurich’s lakeside campus, offering a hybrid schedule, modern collaborative spaces, fitness and dining facilities, and convenient public‑transport links. The environment promotes sustainability, continuous learning and a supportive team culture aimed at building a brighter future together.
