The Intellectual Property Expert for the Digital Ecosystem at Belimo is crucial for safeguarding and expanding the company's intellectual property assets. Belimo specializes in creating and selling devices that control heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning systems efficiently. The company is renowned for its damper actuators, control valves, sensors, and meters, and has been a leader in this field since its founding in 1975. The main tasks involve managing and renewing the patent and design portfolio, supporting invention disclosures and patent applications, and conducting Freedom-to-Operate assessments. The role also includes coordinating patent searches, competitive intelligence, and IP monitoring. Additionally, the expert will advise business units on patent and design matters, represent the IP function in cross-functional meetings, and handle various IP-related topics such as copyrights, trade secrets, and licensing agreements. To excel in this role, candidates must have a degree in Engineering, Natural Sciences, or a related technical field, along with recognized IP qualifications or substantial experience in intellectual property. Several years of experience in an industrial or consulting role related to intellectual property are essential. Proficiency in patents, designs, and intellectual property management, as well as expertise in software development, is required. The ability to work with external patent attorneys and service providers, and to understand and support multiple technical disciplines simultaneously, is crucial. Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex topics to different stakeholders are highly valued. Fluency in both English and German is a must. The role offers a structured, reliable, and detail-oriented working environment.
