Internship Sensor Development

Sentec, a Swiss‑American firm founded in 1999, creates advanced medical devices for respiratory care. The company focuses on non‑invasive monitoring and therapeutic solutions, using deep‑tech to serve patients with complex breathing needs worldwide. As an intern in sensor development you will join a team that continuously improves existing products and brings new technologies to market, especially its transcutaneous sensors that combine electrochemical and optical methods. Your daily work will involve hands‑on interaction with the transcutaneous monitoring platform, constructing sensor prototypes and evaluating their performance. You will design experiments together with colleagues to address key product‑development questions, gather and interpret data, and share the results with the group. The role also includes laboratory tasks, documentation, and supporting various stages of the prototype cycle. The position requires you to be currently studying or recently graduated with a bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical, biomedical, or mechanical engineering. You must have practical experience in 3D printing and building prototypes, be ready to assist with lab work, data analysis, and thorough documentation, and be capable of conducting careful experimental procedures. A strong command of spoken and written English is essential, while conversational German is considered an advantage. The internship lasts six or twelve months, starts around September 2026, and is based full‑time at Sentec’s headquarters in Therwil, roughly a half‑hour from Basel SBB. You will work in an interdisciplinary, flat‑hierarchy environment that encourages you to voice ideas and influence decisions, contributing to life‑saving respiratory therapy products.
