Feed Mill Operator - Lucerne

Smithfield, a global producer of responsibly sourced food, is looking for a Feed Mill Operator at its Lucerne facility. The position joins a company that emphasizes sustainability, respect for people, animals, communities and the planet, and offers a culture built on gratitude, communication, respect and accountability. In this role you will run and monitor every area of the mill, from receiving to batching, production floor and load‑out, following standard operating instructions and flushing procedures. You will operate equipment such as grinders, forklifts and computer systems, keep detailed shift, production and sampling records, manage material flow to meet product specifications, and conduct daily inventory of feed, bulk and micro‑ingredients. Housekeeping duties, safety oversight, environmental compliance and proper handling of micro‑ingredient and tote systems are also part of the daily routine. The job requires at least a high school diploma or GED, the ability to read and speak English, and basic computer proficiency. Candidates must be able to understand safety rules, maintenance manuals and mill control systems, work an average of 50 hours per week—including nights, weekends and holidays—and lift or move up to 50 lb occasionally. Certifications such as weigh‑master and forklift operation are expected, as is a willingness to learn all aspects of the feed‑mill process and to support the mission of producing high‑quality pellet feed. A relocation package is available, and the position involves working in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment with exposure to seasonal temperature extremes, grain dust, chemical odors and noisy conditions. The role offers the chance to collaborate with a team focused on continuous improvement, safety and compliance with ISO 22000 feed‑safety standards, providing a solid foundation for professional growth within Smithfield.
