As a Lead Generator Production Engineer at GE Vernova's Birr plant, you will act as the essential bridge between the rotor design engineers and the manufacturing floor. GE Vernova designs and builds 50 Hz and 60 Hz air‑cooled, hydrogen‑cooled, and liquid‑cooled generators that supply power grids worldwide, and this role ensures that those designs can be produced safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. Your everyday work will involve translating design drawings and specifications into clear instructions for the shop crew, taking part in early design reviews to judge manufacturability, and driving improvements that lower cost while preserving performance. When discrepancies arise, you will lead the technical investigation, applying root‑cause analysis and corrective‑preventive‑action (CAPA) methods to eliminate the issue and prevent recurrence. You will also capture lessons learned and feed them back into design standards, supporting continuous improvement and new product introductions. In addition, you will mentor junior engineers and contribute to lean initiatives that raise overall production capability. The position requires a solid background in generator or heavy‑electrical equipment manufacturing, with a proven track record of linking design intent to shop‑floor execution. Candidates must be adept at reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and manufacturing documentation, and must have demonstrated experience leading cross‑functional technical problem‑solving efforts. Familiarity with root‑cause analysis, CAPA processes, production planning, and quality‑system constraints is essential, as are strong communication and collaboration skills across engineering, manufacturing, quality, and operations teams. Experience within a generator original‑equipment manufacturer or a comparable industrial setting is advantageous, as is a formal degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering. Knowledge of large‑generator components, such as rotor construction, armature core build, winding, lamination punching, or bar design, and exposure to lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or 8D problem‑solving methods are considered valuable extras. The role is based at the Birr facility, offering a competitive benefits package, on‑the‑job learning opportunities, and an inclusive culture that supports career growth. What the role asks for: - Significant experience in generator or heavy electrical equipment manufacturing - Proven ability to lead cross‑functional technical problem solving - Proficiency interpreting engineering drawings, specifications and documentation - Experience applying root‑cause analysis and CAPA methodologies - Strong communication and collaboration across engineering, manufacturing and quality - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (nice-to-have) - Experience in a generator OEM or comparable industrial environment (nice-to-have) - Familiarity with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma or 8D methods (nice-to-have)
