Embedded Software Test Engineer (C)

The position of Embedded Software Test Engineer (C) at VAT Group involves creating and sustaining automated testing solutions for the company’s embedded software. VAT Group, a global leader in high‑performance vacuum valves with more than 3,200 staff worldwide, offers a permanent role located in Haag, St. Gallen, Switzerland. In this role you will shape and carry out test strategies, plans and scenarios, working closely with software developers to produce detailed test specifications. You will build and keep up automated test systems that combine hardware and software, apply modern testing methods, and continuously refine tools and processes. An essential part of the job is to examine test outcomes, pinpoint defects, and assist in root‑cause analysis while collaborating with multicultural, globally distributed teams throughout the development lifecycle. The role requires a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related technical field, together with several years of experience in embedded software testing. Proficiency with testing and programming environments such as LabVIEW, LabVIEW CVI, C, C#, Visual Basic, Python and SQL databases is mandatory, as is familiarity with industrial communication protocols like EtherCAT, Ethernet, DeviceNet or CC‑Link. Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, effective communication in English, and the capacity to work in international teams are also required; German language skills are a plus.
