Syngenta Crop Protection, a Swiss‑based global leader in sustainable agriculture, develops innovative crop‑protection technologies that combine advanced science with digital tools to boost yields while reducing environmental impact. The company is seeking an Onsite Team Lead Plant Production for its greenhouse facility in Stein, Switzerland, where the role will steer the creation of high‑quality plant material that supports biological research and drives innovation. The daily work involves planning and carrying out all horticultural activities, from preparing consistent soil mixes to overseeing cultivation quality and applying corrective actions when needed. The leader will continuously refine growing methods to raise both product quality and process efficiency, while also championing the digital transformation of greenhouse operations—identifying automation opportunities such as irrigation, implementing them, and using digital platforms for planning, documentation and reporting. In addition, the position holds full responsibility for managing the team and technical matters, representing plant production in cross‑functional groups, collaborating closely with research and engineering, solving problems independently, and maintaining transparent communication. Safety duties include keeping risk assessments, work instructions and permits current, delivering regular staff training, and professionally documenting internal projects. Candidates must hold a master‑level qualification in horticulture, environmental engineering (FH Horticulture) or a comparable field, complemented by several years of relevant experience. Proven leadership experience—preferably within a matrix structure—is required, along with a strong interest in technology, digitalisation and automation, solid MS Office skills, fluency in German and English at B2‑C1 level, and a driving licence is considered advantageous. Availability to work occasional Sundays or public holidays is also expected. The role offers a key influence on process optimisation and digital change within a “Friendly Work Space” certified environment that values health, well‑being and collaborative culture. Employees benefit from a collegial atmosphere that encourages new ideas, exclusive discounts, and the chance to contribute to global food security while being part of an international, science‑driven research community.
