VAT Group is a global leader in vacuum technology, designing and supplying high‑performance vacuum valves for more than six decades. With over 3,200 employees and production sites in Switzerland, Malaysia and Romania, the company serves a worldwide market from its headquarters in Haag, St. Gallen. The opening is for a CMM Engineer who will join an international, collaborative team focused on innovation, integrity and customer centricity. The engineer will develop and refine offline measurement programs that stem from CAD data, primarily using Mitutoyo equipment. Daily tasks include conducting tactile and scanning 3‑D measurements, overseeing the work of CMM operators, and ensuring measurement accuracy. The role also supports deviation handling, corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives both on the shop floor and with external suppliers. Interaction with specialist departments is required to advise on measurement‑related issues, share knowledge, and aid the launch of new products by preparing inspection plans and validating initial measurements. Statistical process control (SPC) and quality software such as Q‑DAS will be applied to analyse production data and drive process optimisation. Candidates must possess a solid technical foundation, ideally with machining experience, and demonstrate several years of hands‑on work with coordinate measuring machines, CMM programming and optical inspection systems, preferably Mitutoyo. Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings, especially geometric and positional tolerances, is essential, as is familiarity with aluminium and stainless‑steel materials. Strong mathematical, descriptive‑geometry and spatial‑awareness skills, together with knowledge of relevant standards and quality requirements, are required. The role demands a high degree of independence, the ability to support CMM operators, excellent teamwork, communication skills and fluency in German; a willingness to work a two‑shift schedule is also mandatory. The position is based in Haag, offering a permanent contract within a diverse, inclusive environment that values continuous learning and career growth. While German fluency is compulsory, good English skills are appreciated. Additional advantages include prior ISO GPS training and experience with Model‑Based Definition (MBD). The team's collaborative spirit and the chance to contribute to cutting‑edge vacuum solutions make this an attractive opportunity for motivated measurement specialists. What the role asks for: - Basic technical training, preferably machining background - Very good German language proficiency - Several years experience in CMM programming and optical inspection - Proficient with Mitutoyo measurement systems - Ability to read technical drawings with geometric tolerances - Knowledge of aluminium and stainless steel materials - Strong mathematics, descriptive geometry and spatial awareness - Familiarity with relevant standards and quality requirements - Independent work style with technical support for CMM operators - Strong teamwork and collaboration across specialist departments - Excellent communication skills in technical settings - Willingness to work two‑shift schedule - Nice-to-have: ISO GPS training - Nice-to-have: Model‑Based Definition (MBD) experience
