Ocean Freight Specialist

The Ocean Freight Specialist role focuses on the end‑to‑end handling of import, export and cross‑trade ocean shipments, covering less‑than‑container loads (LCL), full‑container loads (FCL) and, when needed, break‑bulk cargo. In this position you will take full ownership of assigned shipments from the initial booking through to final invoicing. Daily tasks include gathering and comparing freight rates, preparing quotations, managing customer communications, monitoring shipment progress, resolving delays or issues, verifying vendor costs, and processing both carrier and customer invoices. You will also ensure that every shipment complies with international regulations, customs rules and JAS internal policies while maintaining profitability through careful cost control. The ideal candidate has a solid background in the freight‑forwarding sector and has spent three to five years in a comparable role. Strong written and spoken abilities in both German and English are essential, as is the capacity to work collaboratively with colleagues, customers, carriers and external partners.
