The position of Lead Digital Signal Processing Engineer at Destinus places you at the heart of the company’s effort to create next‑generation autonomous flight capabilities. Destinus designs advanced unmanned aerial vehicles for defense customers, delivering high‑speed, precise, and cost‑effective solutions to government agencies and other defense partners worldwide. In this role you will steer the creation of the mathematical framework that underpins the firm’s proprietary inertial measurement unit. Your daily work will involve constructing and maintaining sophisticated digital twin models, crafting high‑frequency control‑loop code for embedded platforms, and writing Extended Kalman Filters and sensor‑fusion routines in C++. You will also embed AI‑based techniques for noise mitigation and thermal compensation, evaluate raw sensor outputs to set performance baselines, and work hand‑in‑hand with hardware, FPGA, embedded software, AI, and flight‑control groups to translate theory into operational aerospace systems. The essential qualifications include a master’s or doctoral degree in electrical engineering, robotics, control systems, mathematics, physics, or a closely related discipline. You must possess expert‑level C++ skills for real‑time embedded and RTOS environments, along with strong proficiency in Python, MATLAB, or Simulink for modeling and simulation. A deep grasp of digital signal processing, control theory, and sensor‑fusion concepts is required, as is experience with inertial navigation hardware and an understanding of gyro bias stability, random walk, and scale‑factor linearity. Familiarity with high‑speed system‑on‑chip and FPGA‑to‑ARM interfaces, plus a track record of delivering robust algorithms for aerospace, robotics, automotive, or defense, is also mandatory. Candidates who enjoy tackling technically demanding problems at the crossroads of physics, software, and hardware will thrive. The environment is fast‑paced, encouraging experimentation and rapid innovation, and values collaborative, curious engineers who can turn rigorous models into reliable fielded technology.
