Senior Staff Engineer, DevOps (m/f/d)

Stryker, a globally recognized medical‑technology leader that delivers orthopaedic, surgical, neuro‑technology and spine solutions, is seeking a Senior Staff Engineer, DevOps to shape its software delivery processes. The position sits within a fast‑moving MedTech environment focused on creating products that improve surgical outcomes and patient lives. In this role you will be accountable for designing, building and maintaining the continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines that support embedded device software. You will work closely with developers, quality engineers, product managers and infrastructure specialists to translate their needs into reliable automation, monitor the health of the CI/CD platform, and produce reproducible, release‑ready software packages that comply with the company’s quality management procedures. Ongoing performance tuning, proactive monitoring and documentation of processes are also key parts of the daily work. The ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s degree in software engineering, computer science or a related field and brings at least six years of DevOps experience. A solid foundation in Linux, Python, shell scripting and familiarity with CI/CD, build, static analysis and security tools is required, as is knowledge of container technologies and orchestration. Experience in Agile or Scrum settings is also mandatory. Additional expertise that would be advantageous includes hands‑on work with Perforce, Jenkins, GitLab, JFrog Artifactory, Docker, SonarCloud, Black Duck, Jama, Bullseye, C/C++, CMake, Kubernetes and Grafana, as well as prior involvement in regulated medical‑device software projects. The role is based in Freiburg/Stetten, Germany, offering a hybrid work model, modest travel, and a compensation range of €5,917‑€9,895 per month, plus potential incentive pay and a comprehensive benefits package.
