The role of a Requirement and Test Automation Engineer is to support a team working on a complex, safety-critical software environment. The company focuses on developing and maintaining software that adheres to stringent safety and compliance standards. This position involves a blend of requirements engineering, technical documentation, system testing, and test automation within an Agile development framework. The main day-to-day responsibilities include analyzing business and end-user needs to create clear and structured functional and system requirements. This involves reviewing regulations, quality standards, and safety constraints to ensure compliance. The engineer will develop, review, and maintain system requirements and test cases, ensuring comprehensive coverage of both system and component requirements. Additionally, the role involves designing and maintaining automated testing solutions, primarily using Python, and executing both manual and automated tests. The engineer will document test outcomes, maintain test records, and investigate software defects, contributing to root-cause analysis and resolution. Participation in formal system validation activities, such as Factory Acceptance Testing, is also a key part of the job, requiring close collaboration with end users and multidisciplinary teams. To qualify for this role, candidates must have a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in a safety-critical environment, with a solid background in software requirements engineering, technical documentation, system testing, and test case development. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, along with a structured and detail-oriented approach, are essential. Proven experience with test automation using Python is required, with knowledge of Java, JUnit, and/or Gherkin being a strong advantage. Excellent written and spoken English is mandatory. Nice-to-have skills include familiarity with real-time, security-critical, or air traffic management systems, as well as standards such as ESARR6/EC482, ED153, IEC 61508, or ISO 12207. The role offers a high level of autonomy and adaptability, with the ability to work effectively within a team and under pressure.
