Senior Director Strategy

Lonza, a worldwide leader in life‑science solutions, is hiring a Senior Director of Corporate Strategy for its Basel headquarters. The position supports the shaping and delivery of the company's overall business platform and corporate direction, acting as a trusted adviser to senior executives. On a daily basis the role will help design and roll out strategic plans that match Lonza's growth targets. It involves producing data‑driven insights, exploring market trends, and building scenario analyses to highlight opportunities and risks. The incumbent will also craft briefing materials for top‑level decision‑makers, work with finance and innovation groups to build financial models and business cases, and evaluate potential mergers, partnerships or joint ventures. Close collaboration with platform leaders, corporate strategy, finance, M&A and innovation teams is essential to validate ideas and refine strategic proposals. The ideal candidate brings extensive experience in corporate strategy, business development, investment banking or management consulting, preferably within pharma, biotech, CDMO or related life‑science fields. A solid analytical foundation, including market research and financial modelling, is required, together with a proven track record of tackling complex business challenges and delivering clear strategic recommendations. Excellent communication and storytelling abilities for senior audiences, the capacity to operate independently while juggling several priorities, and strong project‑leadership skills that influence cross‑functional groups without direct authority are also mandatory. An MBA or comparable advanced degree is valued but not compulsory.
