Director, Commercial Development Oligonucleotides

Lonza, a worldwide supplier of chemicals and biopharmaceutical services operating from more than 30 sites, seeks a Director, Commercial Development Oligonucleotides to be based in Basel, Switzerland. The position bridges scientific innovation and business, steering the commercial direction of Lonza's expanding oligonucleotide portfolio while engaging directly with global customers and partners. In this role you will own the full commercialization cycle of the oligonucleotide service line, craft and execute the growth plan, increase market presence and win new business. You will act as the scientific and technical authority during client meetings, conferences and strategic workshops, work with Marketing to produce technical content and value propositions, and spot market opportunities, competitive edges and emerging trends. Close cooperation with Sales, Operations, Site Leadership, R&D, Portfolio Management and senior executives is required to align development pathways with commercial goals. The ideal candidate holds a degree in Life Sciences, Engineering, Chemistry, Biology or Pharmaceutical Sciences and brings extensive experience in CDMO, biopharmaceutical or related life‑science environments. Proven expertise in oligonucleotide development, manufacturing or commercialization is essential, together with strong strategic thinking, program‑management and organisational abilities. You must be capable of influencing cross‑functional, matrixed teams, communicate persuasively with executive‑level audiences, and be ready to travel roughly 40 % of the time for site visits, meetings and conferences.
