AI Scientist - LLM Systems

As an AI Scientist you will lead the full lifecycle of large‑language‑model projects for banking clients. Your work will start with early experiments, move through solution design, and continue with rigorous evaluation, delivery and ongoing refinement. Projects may involve retrieval‑augmented generation, autonomous agents, fine‑tuning, or building evaluation frameworks such as benchmarks, LLM‑as‑judge and error analysis. You will define the evaluation methodology, collaborate with software engineers, infrastructure teams and domain specialists, integrate the models into enterprise environments and communicate outcomes to both technical and business audiences. The role requires an advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in computer science, mathematics, engineering or a comparable field, together with at least five years of experience as an AI Scientist or in a similar capacity. You must have hands‑on expertise building LLM‑based systems, strong Python and SQL coding abilities, and be comfortable with machine‑learning libraries like PyTorch, TensorFlow or Scikit‑learn. Designing robust evaluation processes for ML/LLM solutions and presenting results clearly to diverse stakeholders are essential, as is fluency in English. Candidates need to be based in Switzerland or ready to relocate and must work onsite for a minimum of 80 % of the time, with the position located in either Lugano or Zurich. Experience in finance or other regulated markets, a record of journal publications, and practical knowledge of Azure cloud services are considered advantageous.
