Director, Search & Evaluation Early TA Lead (CVR)

CSL seeks a Director of Search & Evaluation to expand its external innovation strength within the Cardiovascular‑Renal therapeutic area. The role sits inside the Therapeutic Area Leadership Team and is responsible for shaping the future of CSL's CVR portfolio by spotting and advancing promising early‑stage assets. Day‑to‑day duties involve steering the early search function, scouting pre‑clinical and Phase 1 projects, and assembling a pipeline that aligns with the team's strategic goals. The director co‑chairs internal review sessions that rank new product opportunities, crafts early partnership plans, and oversees cross‑functional due‑diligence covering scientific, clinical, regulatory and commercial aspects. Close collaboration with Business Development and regional ecosystem leads ensures smooth negotiation and closure of high‑value deals, while external representation at conferences helps build relationships with biotech firms, academic groups and investors. The ideal candidate brings a long track record in the biopharma industry, especially in external innovation, scouting or business development. An advanced qualification such as a PhD, MD or equivalent is mandatory, together with deep scientific knowledge of cardiovascular and renal biology. Demonstrated success in managing due‑diligence processes and finalising early‑stage transactions is essential, as is a well‑established network across biotech, academia and pharmaceutical business‑development circles. The position is hybrid, requiring three on‑site days each week at one of CSL's R&D hubs, Zurich, Maidenhead, Waltham or King of Prussia, and cannot be performed remotely.
