Regional Automation Engineer, Amazon Reliability Maintenance Engineering - IntlRME

The Regional Automation Engineer role sits within Amazon's International Reliability Maintenance Engineering (Intl RME) team. In this position you will design, develop, test and roll out software solutions and processes that boost the efficiency and quality of Amazon fulfillment sites worldwide. The job is regional, covering sites in Europe and LATAM, and includes about 30 % travel to provide on‑site support. Your daily work will involve diagnosing and fixing material‑handling control systems such as PLC/PC controllers, industrial networks (Ethernet, ControlNet, DeviceNet, Profibus, Profinet, AS‑i), motor and servo drives, and power distribution. You will write and maintain code for in‑house PLC or PC‑based solutions and SCADA/OEE platforms, lead cross‑border automation projects, and coordinate large‑scale initiatives with site‑based Automation Engineers. The role also requires you to act as a subject‑matter expert for deep‑dive troubleshooting, develop and track KPIs that measure machine efficiency, availability and quality, manage vendor interactions for ticket resolution, and provide technical guidance for collaborative projects. Additionally, you will take part in a rotating on‑call schedule to ensure 24/7/365 remote support for hardware and control‑software issues. The essential qualifications are experience automating, deploying and supporting large‑scale infrastructure, proficiency in at least one modern programming language (e.g., Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, Rust), solid background with Linux/Unix environments, and hands‑on work with CI/CD pipeline build processes. These core skills are required to deliver the automation solutions Amazon expects across its global network. A preferred qualification is experience working with distributed systems at scale, which can help you address the complexity of Amazon's worldwide operations. The position is based in Mexico (Cienega de Flores, Tepotzotlán) within the Operations, IT & Support Engineering group.
