Scientist, Visual Inspection Reference Standard Manufacturing

The company specializes in particle contamination control, visual inspection qualification, and advanced analytical services. The role of Scientist, Visual Inspection Reference Standard Manufacturing is part of the team expanding its visual inspection test set manufacturing operations. The main day-to-day responsibilities include manufacturing visual inspection test sets according to established procedures and manufacturing instructions. This involves preparing primary packaging components, formulations, solutions, suspensions, and other materials required for test set manufacturing. The role also includes performing established procedures for lyophilization, filling, sealing, packaging preparation, and particle or defect incorporation. Additionally, the scientist will manufacture reference samples containing defined particle and defect types, perform visual inspection, sorting, classification, and documentation of manufactured samples, and support the assembly and preparation of complete visual inspection test sets. Operating laboratory and manufacturing equipment according to established SOPs and work instructions, accurately documenting manufacturing activities, and maintaining manufacturing materials, reference particles, consumables, equipment, and laboratory work areas are also key tasks. The scientist will support the investigation and resolution of routine manufacturing deviations and technical issues, and contribute to the reliable and timely execution of manufacturing projects for pharmaceutical and biotech clients. Collaboration with colleagues from visual inspection, particle characterization, quality, and project management is essential. The must-have requirements for this role include a BSc or apprenticeship in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field. Relevant experience in pharmaceutical process development, manufacturing, formulation, lyophilization, primary packaging, or visual inspection is also required. Experience developing and implementing practical manufacturing procedures is essential. The ability to work independently while supporting a multidisciplinary manufacturing team, a structured working style with strong documentation, and an innovative and hands-on mindset with an interest in developing new technical solutions are crucial. Nice-to-have skills include the ability to work in a collaborative team environment with flat hierarchies and direct involvement in technical decision-making. The role is based in Basel, Switzerland, in the Rosental area, and offers a 100% permanent position with a start date as soon as possible.
