Kinderspital Zürich, Switzerland’s largest university children’s hospital, is looking for a Senior Consultant who will also act as Head of Division for its Stem Cell Transplantation programme. The institution treats up to 100 000 young patients each year across dozens of specialties and combines cutting‑edge clinical care with a strong research and rehabilitation focus. The post holder will steer the entire Cellular Therapies unit, coordinating with haematology, oncology, immunology and metabolic teams to expand both autologous and allogeneic transplants as well as advanced cell‑based treatments such as CAR‑T and gene‑editing approaches. They will also direct the JACIE/EBMT‑accredited centre, overseeing clinical, collection, processing and laboratory activities under quality‑management rules, and work closely with the GMP laboratory. Strategic duties include maintaining the national centre role, fostering international links, managing interdisciplinary collaborations, and supporting a research group within the Children’s Research Centre. Clinical trial participation, development of investigator‑initiated studies, and the introduction of novel graft‑processing or conditioning methods are also expected, together with leading a mixed team of physicians, scientists and nurses. Applicants must hold a paediatric specialist title recognised in Switzerland, with a focus on haematology/oncology or clinical immunology, and possess extensive hands‑on experience in all aspects of stem‑cell and cellular therapy, including donor collection and complication management. Proven familiarity with JACIE, GCP and GMP standards, a collaborative leadership style, and a solid record of translational or clinical research funded by external sources are required. Fluency in scientific English is essential; German proficiency (or a commitment to achieve it within two years) is mandatory, while French or Italian are advantageous. Participation in the department’s on‑call service is also expected. The role begins in January 2028 and offers a gross annual salary in the range of CHF 250 000 to CHF 260 000, adjusted according to the candidate’s credentials and experience, with further progression linked to performance and the foundation’s financial capacity. The position provides the chance to shape a leading European hub for paediatric stem‑cell therapies within a supportive, interdisciplinary environment.
