Senior Scientist - Ecotoxicology

The Senior Scientist – Ecotoxicology will join the Chemical Regulation and Food Safety practice, working from one of several European hubs—including Harrogate, Nottingham, London, Dublin, Mannheim or Basel—or from a home‑based setting. In this position you will prepare ecological risk evaluations for plant‑protection chemicals in line with EU rules, especially Regulation (EC) No 1107/2009. You will advise customers on ecotoxicological aspects, interpret study data and published literature, and draw scientifically sound regulatory conclusions. Tasks also involve spotting data gaps, designing testing plans, monitoring study outcomes, and contributing both written and spoken input to multidisciplinary project teams to shape strategic guidance for clients. The role requires a master’s degree or comparable qualification in a field such as biology or environmental science, together with proven experience conducting EU‑mandated risk assessments for plant‑protection products. Strong written and oral communication, meticulous attention to detail, solid numeracy, sound judgement and the ability to collaborate effectively are essential.
