Press and Information Officer (m/f/x)

The European Union’s Delegation in Bern, representing the EU to Switzerland and Liechtenstein, is looking for a Press and Information Officer to join its Political, Press and Information Section. The post is a two‑year fixed‑term appointment, with a three‑month probationary period, and the team consists of four members. The role reports directly to the Head of Section and supports the Ambassador on communication matters. In daily work the officer will serve as the Delegation’s spokesperson and the primary liaison for journalists, preparing press releases, briefings and speeches while handling media enquiries. Responsibilities include shaping the overall press and visibility plan, overseeing the Delegation’s website and all social‑media channels, and producing digital content such as videos and posts that highlight EU activities and values. The incumbent will also design and execute public‑diplomacy initiatives, organise events and high‑level visits, and coordinate outreach with cultural, academic and diplomatic partners. Monitoring local and European media, drafting reports and contributing to strategic documents are also part of the routine. The position requires full‑time work (37.5 hours per week) from Monday to Friday, with occasional evenings or weekend duties and travel for missions. Work is carried out in an office environment without special physical demands. The posting offers the possibility of contract renewal, subject to budgetary and operational considerations, and provides experience within a diplomatic mission that collaborates closely with EU headquarters and a network of member‑state embassies.
