Enterprise Architect

Vitol, a global energy and commodities trader with $331 billion in revenue in 2024, moves millions of barrels of oil daily and operates a fleet of 250 ships. The company is expanding its low‑carbon portfolio and seeks an Enterprise Architect to shape the technology blueprint that underpins its worldwide trading and physical operations. Reporting directly to the Chief Technology Officer, this newly created position will define, structure and govern Vitol's target architecture, technology strategy and data architecture across all business units. In this role you will own the enterprise technology blueprints and design target‑state architectures for core systems, high‑throughput integration layers and the emerging data platform. You will establish a lightweight Architecture Advisory Framework to review high‑risk technical decisions, vendor selections and integration points without slowing delivery. The architect will guide build‑versus‑buy decisions, rationalise legacy debt, manage the application and technology inventory, and partner with product engineering, trading desks, CyberOps, Cloud & Infrastructure and the Executive Technology team. You will also lead the creation of the Enterprise Architecture function, hiring and developing future architects while overseeing technology demand management and promoting architecture awareness throughout the organisation. The role requires a technical undergraduate or postgraduate degree and at least seven years of experience in enterprise architecture or technical leadership, including a minimum of five years in a senior executive capacity. Candidates must have a proven record of establishing pragmatic, lean architecture governance models, hands‑on expertise in designing modern event‑driven data and integration topologies, and deep knowledge of cloud‑native application patterns. Demonstrated experience building AI and agentic capabilities and a strong commitment to security‑by‑design are also essential.
