The Automation Engineer - GMP Pharma & Biotech role involves working in GMP-regulated environments, focusing on the design, implementation, and improvement of automation systems. The main day-to-day responsibilities include designing, developing, and implementing automation solutions. This involves configuring and programming systems like PLC, HMI, SCADA, DCS, or MES. The role also includes supporting activities such as FAT, SAT, commissioning, qualification, and validation. Troubleshooting automation, control, and communication issues, as well as developing and improving automation standards and technical documentation, are key tasks. Additionally, the engineer will support batch control, recipe management, data integrity, and process monitoring activities. Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, suppliers, and client stakeholders is essential for delivering strategic pharmaceutical and biotech projects. To qualify for this role, candidates must have a degree in Automation, Electrical Engineering, Industrial IT, or a related field. A minimum of two years of experience in a GMP-regulated pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or life science environment is required. Professional experience with at least one of the following is necessary: PLC, SCADA, HMI, DCS, MES, industrial automation, or OT networks. Knowledge of automation systems and industrial communication technologies is crucial. Experience with platforms such as Siemens, Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, Emerson DeltaV, or Syncade is advantageous. Nice-to-have skills include a strong understanding of GMP, GAMP 5, data integrity, and qualification/validation principles. Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills are essential. The ability to work independently in a consulting and project-based environment is important. Good communication skills in English are required, with German being a strong advantage.
