Senior Network Security Engineer

Rieter, the global leader in systems for turning natural and synthetic fibres into yarns and non‑wovens, is looking for a Senior Network Security Engineer. Based in Winterthur, Switzerland, the company designs and builds complex spinning plants and related technologies that span the entire textile value chain, emphasizing sustainability and efficient resource use. In this position you will create, deploy and run a worldwide network security architecture that shields the organisation from cyber threats. Daily tasks include configuring and maintaining firewalls, VPNs, network segmentation and secure connectivity services, as well as delivering second‑ and third‑level support for the security infrastructure. You will translate internal customer needs into secure, scalable designs, keep the environment aligned with global standards, and continuously enhance performance and reliability. The role also involves leading security‑focused projects, handling lifecycle activities for infrastructure and services, and improving cloud connectivity and overall security architecture. The ideal candidate holds a bachelor's degree or HF in Computer Engineering, IT or a comparable engineering discipline and brings at least seven years of experience in enterprise networking or network security engineering. Deep expertise with Palo Alto firewalls, VPNs, segmentation and IPSec is required, together with solid knowledge of intrusion detection and prevention, network access control, cloud and wireless security. Experience managing Huawei and Cisco LAN/WLAN gear, as well as a good grasp of ISP and data‑centre environments, routing, MPLS, BGP and load balancing, is essential. A strong understanding of core infrastructure services such as DNS, DHCP and IP, proven ability to design and evolve complex security solutions, and hands‑on troubleshooting skills are also mandatory. Excellent analytical abilities and very good oral and written English, complemented by strong communication in an international setting, round out the profile.
