At Roche, the Global Product Development Safety & Risk Management (PDS) department works to improve patient care by defining and communicating the safety profiles of Roche medicines. The Associate Group Director, Quantitative Safety Sciences (QSS) leads a worldwide, multidisciplinary team that blends data science, AI/ML, pharmaco‑epidemiology and pharmacovigilance literature to generate data‑driven insights for regulatory deliverables and risk‑benefit assessments across the product lifecycle. In day‑to‑day practice the role models Roche's values while steering a senior global team of Quantitative Safety Scientists. Key duties include shaping team direction, embedding new ways of working, and driving continuous quality and efficiency improvements. The AGD oversees the production of advanced quantitative analyses, leveraging real‑world data, clinical trial data and literature sources, ensuring they meet the highest scientific standards. The position also manages stakeholder relationships, allocates resources to projects based on capability and priority, and supports recruitment, onboarding and ongoing development of team members. When needed, the AGD may act on behalf of the Group Director, Safety Analytics and Reporting. The ideal candidate holds a university degree in computer science, quantitative science, statistics, pharmaco‑epidemiology or a natural science with a focus on statistical data analysis, preferably at MSc or PhD level. They bring extensive data‑science experience in a scientific or medical setting, are comfortable with relational databases and possess expert modelling skills. Strong leadership, coaching and project‑management abilities are essential, as is a proven track record of directing technical experts in global line or matrix environments. Deep familiarity with drug‑safety data, including FAERS, clinical‑trial datasets, biomarkers and real‑world evidence, and the associated business processes is also required.
