Global Head Regulatory Data, Digital and AI

The Global Head of Regulatory Data, Digital and AI will steer the PTR Data, Digital and AI team, which is responsible for modernising the regulatory function through automation, analytics and artificial intelligence to speed the delivery of new medicines worldwide. In this role you will shape and own the digital, automation and AI roadmap for Technical Regulatory, turning strategic concepts into concrete execution plans with clear milestones and measurable impact. You will assess, design and roll out innovative solutions such as generative AI, machine‑learning models and workflow automation, while establishing strong data and AI governance to guarantee compliant, high‑quality data handling. Collaboration with IT, regulatory business owners, data stewards and vendors will be essential to deliver end‑to‑end digital capabilities, build real‑time dashboards, and lead change‑management, process‑optimisation and training programmes that drive adoption across the organisation. You will also represent the department in senior leadership forums and external industry networks, and guide a high‑performing team of digital leads, managing portfolio priorities and resources. The position requires a university degree—preferably a master’s or PhD—in data science, computer science, engineering, life sciences or a related technical field. Candidates must bring extensive experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology sector, with a proven record of digital transformation, technology implementation and advanced analytics, and a solid grasp of enterprise data governance, AI governance, master data management and business‑intelligence platforms. Demonstrated ability to lead cross‑functional change, align senior stakeholders and improve operations, together with experience coaching agile, high‑performing teams, is essential. Additional advantage is prior work in pharmaceutical regulatory‑affairs operations. The role is based in Basel, with the possibility of other locations later in the hiring process.
