Enterprise Architect

Vitol is looking for an Enterprise Architect to join its technology department. The company is a global energy and commodities trading firm. The role involves defining, structuring, and governing Vitol's target architecture, technology strategy, and data architecture across its worldwide trading and physical operations. The Enterprise Architect will report directly to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO). The main day-to-day responsibilities include providing architectural counsel on platform and vendor choices, build versus buy decisions, modernization sequencing, integration and data design, and ensuring resilience and risk management. The role also involves creating a new Enterprise Architecture function, developing governance, and promoting architecture principles. Additionally, the Enterprise Architect will support major transformation programs, such as the new data platform, cloud journey, AI transformation, and application modernization. To qualify, candidates must have an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in a technical discipline. They need 7+ years of experience in enterprise architecture or technical leadership, with at least 5 years in a senior executive role. Proven experience in establishing lean, pragmatic architecture governance models is essential. Candidates should have hands-on expertise in designing modern, event-driven architectures, a deep understanding of cloud-native application patterns, and demonstrated experience building AI and Agentic capabilities. Ensuring security and resiliency in every architecture decision is also crucial. Nice-to-have skills include being pragmatic and outcome-oriented, having a commercial mindset, being decisive and action-oriented, possessing executive presence and influence, being highly collaborative, and being operationally excellent.
