This position is responsible for shaping, prioritizing, and advancing the R&D innovation portfolio to accelerate impact and deliver measurable business value. The role operates at the intersection of science, strategy, operations, and commercial value creation, ensuring that investments, resources, and innovation efforts are focused on the most impactful opportunities. The main day-to-day responsibilities include translating R&D and business strategies into a balanced portfolio of initiatives and investments. This involves establishing portfolio prioritization frameworks, leveraging technology trends, and identifying areas for increased or redirected R&D investment. The role also includes generating actionable innovation insights, building and evaluating business cases, and quantifying value creation opportunities. Additionally, the position involves building trusted relationships with senior leaders, driving alignment among diverse stakeholders, and facilitating executive discussions. The role also establishes governance processes to improve transparency and decision quality, and prepares strategic recommendations for leadership teams. To excel in this role, candidates must have a Ph.D., Master's degree, or equivalent experience in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Engineering, Business, or a related discipline. Significant experience in portfolio management, strategy, innovation, consulting, business transformation, or R&D leadership is required. Experience in strategic and/or management consulting is highly desirable. Proven track record of leading complex cross-functional teams is essential. Nice-to-have skills include strong strategic thinking and innovation mindset, and the ability to identify emerging trends and convert insights into actionable opportunities. The role is based in Basel, Switzerland, and offers a dynamic and collaborative team environment.
