Head of Internal Audit - Director

Swissquote, Switzerland’s leading digital bank with more than 1,500 employees across Europe, the Middle East and Asia, is looking for a Head of Internal Audit – Director. The bank serves over a million clients worldwide, offering trading, investing and everyday banking services while continuously expanding its digital footprint. In this senior role you will head the Group’s independent internal audit function, reporting straight to the Board of Directors and the Audit & Risk Committee, and you will be responsible for embedding a robust governance, risk‑management and internal‑control framework throughout the organisation. On a daily basis you will design and maintain the internal audit strategy, methodology and multi‑year audit plan, aligning them with Swissquote’s business model, risk profile and regulatory obligations. You will draft and keep up‑to‑date the Internal Audit Charter, secure Board approval and guarantee compliance with FINMA standards and recognised professional norms. The position also involves building a risk‑based audit universe, overseeing the execution of audits—both personally in high‑impact areas and through co‑sourced partners—and ensuring the independence and objectivity of the function at all times. In addition, you will develop and run a Quality Assurance and Improvement Program, manage the audit budget and resource plan, and produce performance metrics that demonstrate the value added by internal audit. The role demands a proven track record in leading internal audit activities, especially within a financial institution undergoing regulatory change. You must be capable of guiding the transition from an external provider to an in‑house model as Swissquote moves from FINMA Category 4 to Category 3, establishing the necessary governance, charter, methodology, tools and audit universe. Strong advisory skills are essential, as you will act as a trusted confidant to senior stakeholders, challenge management on control weaknesses, and ensure that material findings are addressed and escalated appropriately. A deep understanding of financial, operational, technological and emerging risks, together with the ability to incorporate data‑analytics and automated monitoring into audit processes, is also required. Nice‑to‑have attributes include experience in building and scaling audit teams, a focus on digital enablement, and familiarity with developing future audit talent through cross‑functional exposure.
