Director, Search & Evaluation Early TA Lead (Haem)

CSL is expanding its external innovation function and seeks a Director, Search & Evaluation Early TA Lead (Haem) to help shape the future of its haematology pipeline. The role sits inside the Therapeutic Area Leadership Team and focuses on finding and assessing early‑stage external assets that could strengthen the company’s blood‑disorder portfolio. Day‑to‑day duties involve directing the search for pre‑clinical and Phase 1 projects, building a pipeline that aligns with the therapeutic strategy, and guiding internal review sessions that prioritize new product ideas. The incumbent will design early partnership plans, coordinate scientific, clinical, regulatory and commercial due‑diligence, and work closely with Business Development and regional ecosystem leads to negotiate and close deals. Representing the therapeutic area at specialist meetings and nurturing links with biotech firms, academic groups and investors also forms a core part of the job. The position requires extensive experience in biopharma, particularly in external innovation, scouting or business development, together with a strong scientific background in haematology. An advanced degree such as a PhD, MD or equivalent is mandatory, as is a proven record of managing due‑diligence processes and completing early‑stage transactions. Candidates should also possess a well‑established network across biotech, academia and pharmaceutical development teams. The role is hybrid, requiring three on‑site days each week at one of CSL’s R&D hubs—Zurich, Maidenhead, Waltham or King of Prussia—and cannot be performed remotely. Working within a senior leadership group, the director will have visibility across the portfolio and the opportunity to influence strategic direction while collaborating with cross‑functional partners.
