Quality of Education Officer

The Quality of Education Officer will join ETH Zurich's Strategy & Analytics Group within the Unit for Teaching and Learning. This unit supplies data‑driven evidence that guides university‑wide teaching decisions, running projects such as documenting teaching loads, calculating system capacity, and spotting future trends in higher education. In this project‑based role the incumbent will design, pilot and embed a university‑wide Quality of Education Framework. Tasks include defining a shared notion of quality, establishing dimensions, indicators and related assurance processes that work across all 16 faculties and central services, mapping existing standards, aligning the new model with current support and management tools, and coordinating a 2027 pilot followed by an institution‑wide rollout. The officer will also prepare analytical reports for senior management, represent the framework in strategic committees, and collaborate with departmental QA representatives, external partners and accreditation bodies. The position requires a master's qualification in education sciences, higher‑education studies, public administration, policy, social sciences or a comparable discipline. Candidates must possess deep expertise in higher‑education quality assurance and management, backed by substantial hands‑on experience in designing and applying a QA framework or policy. Familiarity with accreditation standards such as HFKG/AAQ, proven skill in building consensus across a large, decentralized organization, and a track record of leading projects, change initiatives and working with external consultants are essential. Proficiency in survey design and routine data‑analysis tools, detailed knowledge of ETH Zurich's organisational processes (or a similar institution) or the ability to acquire it quickly, and fluency in both German and English are also mandatory. The role calls for a conceptual, evidence‑based thinker who can convey nuanced information clearly to diverse audiences. The appointment is a fixed‑term contract for up to two years, with a workload of 60 %, 80 % and a start date arranged as soon as possible.
