Internship (6 months) - Compliance data quality control & Support

Union Bancaire Privée (UBP) is a top private bank in Switzerland, serving both private and institutional clients from its headquarters in Geneva and Zurich, as well as through its international network. The Compliance Projects & Tools team within UBP is tasked with managing applications, data flows, and workflows that enable the Compliance function to oversee the bank's activities and adhere to regulatory standards. The Data & Process Analyst will work on practical tasks, focusing on understanding current compliance processes, analyzing the data involved, and suggesting improvements. This role involves working with business queries, banking data, and the tools that process this data. The analyst will also participate in Compliance projects, from gathering requirements to documenting new tools, providing a comprehensive view of how regulated processes are designed, tested, and implemented. The role requires a strong foundation in statistics and data handling, with a preference for candidates who have experience with AI through academic or personal projects. Proficiency in Python and SQL is essential, as is the ability to work with large or imperfect datasets. Familiarity with generative-AI assistants and a good command of Excel are also important. The ideal candidate will be curious, inventive, and able to explain technical work in simple terms to non-technical stakeholders. They should be structured, rigorous, and quality-conscious, with a critical eye for their own results. The role is based in Geneva and offers the opportunity to work closely with Compliance officers and IT teams, with mentorship from a Change Manager. The role is ideal for someone who enjoys building things rather than just describing them, and who can take an open question, break it down, and come back with a concrete solution within a short timeframe. The candidate should be reliable, discreet, and comfortable with the confidentiality standards of a private bank. The team environment is flexible, with evolving priorities, and the candidate should be comfortable in this dynamic setting. What the role asks for: - Currently enrolled at EPFL (or an equivalent Swiss university) in a Bachelor's final year or Master's program in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Engineering or another quantitative discipline - Solid foundation in statistics and data handling - Working knowledge of Python - Familiarity with SQL - Comfortable working with large or imperfect datasets - Hands-on user of generative-AI assistants - Good command of Excel - Fluent in French - Fluent in English
