As a Sr Scientist Substrate Technology based in Neuchâtel, you will lead the creation, characterization, industrialisation and rollout of new substrate materials that underpin next‑generation smoke‑free products and related platforms. In this role you will steer research programmes that move from concept through to commercialisation, defining formulations, experimental approaches, processing parameters and performance targets. You will generate scientific evidence that supports product performance, quality, regulatory compliance and innovation decisions. Your day‑to‑day work includes coordinating laboratory, pilot‑scale and manufacturing activities, managing external partners, driving technology transfer and ensuring manufacturing readiness. You will also support sustainability initiatives, scout emerging technologies and contribute to the company's intellectual‑property portfolio while maintaining detailed technical documentation and specifications. The position requires a solid academic background and hands‑on experience. A master's or doctoral degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or a closely related discipline is essential. You must have proven experience in material and product development, industrialisation, process optimisation and project management. Strong scientific problem‑solving abilities in multidisciplinary settings, thorough knowledge of laboratory techniques, method development, validation and analytical chemistry are also required. Experience in product innovation and in shaping intellectual‑property strategy, together with critical thinking, creativity and data‑driven decision‑making, are key to success.
