The role of Senior Scientist in Process Chemistry & Catalysis at Roche involves driving innovation in chemical reaction development. This involves engineering catalyst structures to enhance process performance, ensuring compliance with safety and health regulations, and documenting scientific data. The role also requires engaging with internal stakeholders and external collaborators, authoring scientific reports, and supporting the training of associate scientists and interns. To qualify for this position, candidates must have a PhD in organometallic chemistry or homogeneous catalysis, complemented by a Postdoc and at least 5 years of chemical process R&D experience in the pharmaceutical or fine chemical industry. A proven track record in transition metal catalysis, catalyst synthesis, and scaling up catalytic processes is essential. Strong organizational skills, fluency in English, and a working knowledge of German are also required. Nice-to-have skills include experience with computational tools such as retrosynthetic prediction and AI optimization, as well as knowledge of Design of Experiments (DoE) and reaction kinetics. The role is based in a collaborative environment within the Process Chemistry & Catalysis team, which is part of the Small Molecules Technical Development group. This team works closely with partners in research and commercial manufacturing, offering opportunities for professional growth and impactful contributions to the development of drug substances.
