The Process Engineer, Electronics role is part of VAT Group, the world's leading supplier of high‑performance vacuum valves. The position is based permanently in Haag, St. Gallen, Switzerland, and joins an international team that values integrity, teamwork, customer focus and innovation. In this role you will lead the full development cycle of automated assembly and end‑of‑line testing equipment, concentrating on electrical hardware. Daily tasks include designing, building, validating and releasing test devices for production, while translating user requirements gathered from global cross‑functional teams into clear technical specifications. You will also prepare CE‑compliant specification documents, create flowcharts and layouts, integrate electrical components into automation systems, and develop verification plans that support quality‑assurance activities. Ongoing responsibilities involve analysing existing automation solutions, updating technical documentation, responding to user feedback and providing third‑level support to local sites when needed. The position requires a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, electronics, automation or a closely related discipline. Proven experience with electrical manufacturing and test equipment, as well as a track record of automating production and end‑of‑line testing processes, is essential. You must be comfortable working with electrical hardware in an industrial setting and be able to communicate effectively in English. These core qualifications ensure you can contribute immediately to VAT's cross‑functional projects and maintain the high standards expected for its vacuum‑valve products. Additional assets that strengthen an application include a master's degree, prior work with valve technology or in cleanroom environments, and familiarity with Beckhoff/TwinCAT automation platforms. German language skills and a proactive, well‑organized, team‑oriented mindset are also valued.
