Groundwater Modeling & Environmental Data Consultant

The position is for a Groundwater Modeling & Environmental Data Consultant at ERM, the world's largest sustainability‑focused advisory firm. ERM's environmental consulting practice delivers technical solutions for industrial, infrastructure, energy and public‑sector clients throughout Europe, helping them meet regulatory, operational and sustainability goals. In this role you will build, calibrate and interpret groundwater flow and contaminant‑transport models, while handling and validating hydrogeological and environmental data sets. You will support site investigations, remediation efforts and groundwater assessments, produce technical reports and model documentation, and feed monitoring data into databases and visualisation tools. Collaboration with hydrogeology, risk‑assessment and environmental‑engineering specialists is essential, as is preparing client presentations and ensuring data quality and regulatory compliance. The core requirements include a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Hydrogeology, Geosciences, Environmental Engineering, Water Resources, Environmental Science or a closely related discipline, and at least two years of professional experience in groundwater modelling, hydrogeological assessments or environmental data management. Candidates must be proficient with groundwater‑modelling packages such as MODFLOW, FEFLOW or Visual MODFLOW, and possess strong skills in environmental data analysis and management. Excellent written and spoken German and English, solid analytical and problem‑solving abilities, and the capacity to work effectively within multidisciplinary, international teams are also mandatory. Additional assets valued by ERM are experience with GIS platforms (ArcGIS, QGIS), familiarity with environmental databases, visualisation and reporting tools, and a background in contaminated‑site investigations and remediation. Knowledge of European groundwater and environmental regulations, programming or scripting experience in Python, R or SQL, and an understanding of environmental monitoring programmes and data‑governance practices are considered desirable.
