Associate Director, Research Biostatistics

The position of Associate Director, Research Biostatistics at CSL places a senior statistical expert at the heart of the company’s research enterprise, guiding scientific inquiry across discovery, translational and early‑stage programs while working closely with diverse scientific groups to shape study concepts and turn large, intricate data sets into evidence that drives portfolio advancement. Each day the role involves directing the statistical framework for multiple projects, guaranteeing sound experimental design, rigorous analysis and clear interpretation that inform key decisions. The incumbent will head sophisticated data examinations that span pre‑clinical work, translational studies, biomarker work, imaging, omics and human research, employing techniques such as Bayesian inference, causal analysis, longitudinal modeling and machine‑learning approaches. They will also craft novel methods, build reproducible pipelines and write statistical code, primarily using R and its ecosystem. In addition, the person will help identify and validate biomarkers, convert findings into actionable recommendations for target assessment, candidate prioritization and probability‑of‑success estimates, and cooperate with teams in bioinformatics, global biometrics, data management, PK/PD and other quantitative areas. Contributions to scientific papers, ethics filings, external partnerships and internal training are also expected, as is mentorship of junior staff and promotion of a data‑driven culture.
