Where do I record my job search efforts in Switzerland?

Updated:

In short

In Job-Room at job-room.ch — the official platform of Swiss unemployment insurance. Log in (AGOV), open “Efforts to find work”, click record, fill in the details, save. Recorded efforts are transmitted to your RAV automatically overnight on the 5th–6th of each month.

This answer can contain errors and is not official advice. What your RAV or unemployment fund says is binding.

Two things save trouble: for jobs you find inside Job-Room, a transfer button copies the advert into your efforts automatically. And the proof also exists as a paper form — the official fallback when the portal fails.

  • Deadline: the 5th of the following month (Art. 26 AVIV).
  • Late without excuse = the efforts do not count at all.
  • Passwordless login: AGOV app or security key.
  • Outage? help.agov.ch shows the login status.

The Job-Room flow, step by step

Sign in with AGOV, open the "job-search efforts" area, choose "record", enter the details of your application and save. That is all there is to it — the common failure is not the interface but forgetting.

For vacancies you found inside Job-Room, the "adopt" button saves the typing: the advert moves straight into your recorded efforts. Applications from elsewhere you enter by hand.

Submission is automatic — once

Recorded efforts are transmitted to your RAV automatically overnight on the 5th to the 6th of the month. You do not have to send anything separately, but you do have to have recorded in time.

Art. 26 para. 2 AVIV sets the 5th of the following month as the deadline. Late without an excusable reason means the efforts do not count at all — even where you genuinely made them. Record as you go rather than at month end.

When the portal will not cooperate

The record also exists as a paper form. That is the official alternative rather than a workaround: if the login fails or you would rather not use the portal, paper is permitted.

For login problems, help.agov.ch shows whether there is a current outage. Access is passwordless, via the AGOV app or a security key. Sort that out before the 5th, not on it.
