Tool comparisons
CV-Swiss alternatives: the honest ranking
Updated:
In short
People leaving cvswiss.ch are usually after one of three things: a lower price, no subscription, or a tool that does more than the CV itself. For the first, lebenslauf.ch is the strongest alternative — free, no login, run by the Swiss staffing firm Universal-Job AG. For the second, bewerbung.ch at CHF 20 for one month with no automatic renewal. For the third, SwissJobs.app, where the advert is already inside the tool instead of being pasted into it. Said plainly: for exactly one application, the CHF 5 single CV at cvswiss.ch beats every alternative here.
The ranking at a glance
Click an image for the large view. The price, and what it includes, sits beside it — every entry is linked.

The first place to go if price is why you are leaving. The home page promises «100% kostenlos», «Kein Login notwendig» and a free download; we read it on 4 September 2026 and found nothing that contradicts the promise.
Free
- What it is the first choice for: Free, no login
- Tailoring to a specific advert: No
- What it does beyond the CV: Nothing further — a CV builder only

2. SwissJobs.appOur app
Six tools in one account, all working against the same advert from our own job index. PDF and Word without a watermark, Swiss conventions built in, in four languages.
CHF 15 a month or CHF 95 a year · free account: 5 documents a day
- CV editor, written against the advert
- ATS CV check
- Cover letter for the same posting
- Interview prep sheet
- Live-voice interview practice (AI)
- Application tracker with the RAV form (official SECO sheet)
The alternative for anyone who does not want a subscription at all. On 5 September 2026 the pricing page listed CHF 20 for one month of Premium and CHF 50 for three months, both carrying the explicit note «Keine automatische Verlängerung».
CHF 20/month or CHF 50/3 months, no automatic renewal
- What it is the first choice for: No subscription, time-limited access
- Tailoring to a specific advert: Not stated
- What it does beyond the CV: Cover letters, interview training, paid data-entry service

The closest substitute for the cvswiss.ch single purchase, with one condition you have to read. On 4 September 2026 the site advertised «Einmalig CHF 12. Kein Abo. 14 Tage Zugriff inklusive» and covers German, French, Italian and English. Building is free; the download is what costs.
CHF 12 one-time, 14 days of access
- What it is the first choice for: A short, dense burst of applications
- Tailoring to a specific advert: Not stated
- What it does beyond the CV: Not stated

The strongest candidate if appearance matters more to you than tailored wording — and a more interesting candidate than the standard warning suggests. That warning says a designed CV fails machine screening.
Not readable (loaded in the browser)
- What it is the first choice for: Design as a work sample
- Tailoring to a specific advert: No
- What it does beyond the CV: Everything design, nothing application-specific

Right for a narrowly defined case and wrong for the ordinary one. Europass is run by the European Commission, costs nothing and produces CVs in 31 languages. For applications to EU institutions, for qualification-recognition procedures and for mobility programmes the format is expected and sometimes required.

The ranking below is not sorted by size or by preference. It is sorted by what each option adds ALONGSIDE what cvswiss.ch already does. By that measure we place ourselves second, behind the free tool: if all you need is one clean CV and you would rather not pay, lebenslauf.ch serves you better than we do, and pretending otherwise would be disproved in a minute.
One piece of context belongs at the top, because it concerns the argument this whole product category sells on. The cvswiss.ch features page advertises a format that gets through the screening tools Swiss companies use (read 5 September 2026). Rather than believe it or contradict it, we counted: across the open Swiss adverts in our index, 35.3 per cent send the application into an applicant-tracking system we can name from the destination link — spread across 23 different systems. A third, not all of them; and not one format, but many.
Share of the open Swiss adverts in our index whose application link leads into a nameable system (5 September 2026, apprenticeships and internships excluded). Classified from the destination host of the application link; 23 systems in all, the remainder each under 3 per cent.
- cvswiss.ch, from its own pricing page on 5 September 2026: CHF 5 one-time for a single CV download with no edits afterwards, or CHF 15 a month for the Job-Search subscription, renewing monthly, cancel in one click, with a seven-day money-back promise.
- lebenslauf.ch describes itself on its own home page as «100% kostenlos» and «Kein Login notwendig», with a free download. The footer names Universal-Job AG, a staffing company — the tool is the shop window, not the business.
- bewerbung.ch charges CHF 20 for one month or CHF 50 for three, both marked explicitly «Keine automatische Verlängerung» — no automatic renewal. The free plan gives one layout stamped with their logo and three AI credits; ten more credits cost CHF 5.
- cv-easy.ch costs CHF 12 one-time with no subscription — but access ends after 14 days. Come back to the same CV three months later and you pay again.
- Europass is free, run by the European Commission, and produces CVs in 31 languages. The format is an EU standard and precisely not Swiss convention — which is the difference a hiring manager here notices.
- Measured against the open Swiss adverts in our index on 5 September 2026: 35.3 per cent of applications go into a nameable applicant-tracking system, 5.7 per cent to a job portal, and the rest to some other address — most often the employer's own site.
- The language Swiss adverts are written in: 41.5 per cent German, 21.4 per cent English, 10.7 per cent French, 1.6 per cent Italian, with just under a quarter undetermined. Four languages cover this market; anything beyond that is a selling point, not a selection criterion.
What SwissJobs.app adds over cvswiss.ch
Not tailoring to an advert — both tools do that, and cvswiss.ch is right to lead with it. The difference is where the advert comes from, and what happens after it.
The advert is already there — We run the Swiss job index ourselves: you pick the job rather than copying its text out of a job board.
Four tools against one advert — CV, motivation letter, a check against that specific posting and interview preparation — all from the same details.
The SECO sheet from the tracker — Job-search efforts are filled into the official form from the applications you have recorded and printed; you still submit it however your RAV requires.
Word export without a watermark — PDF and DOCX, both clean — on a free plan that is exactly what many vendors withhold.
Start without an account — The tools open without signing in; the account is asked for to save and from the second document, not before.
54 design variations — 2 layouts x 3 fonts x 9 accent colours, freely combined — not a fixed gallery you pick one item from.
The six alternatives side by side
| Tool | What it is the first choice for | Price for job seekers | Tailoring to a specific advert | What it does beyond the CV |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| cvswiss.ch (the starting point)The pricing card says the single CV allows no edits after download; their FAQ describes it differently. Read it yourself before buying. | A single application | CHF 5 one-time · CHF 15/month | Yes — paste the advert | Motivation letters, ATS check without an account, RAV form export |
| lebenslauf.chOperator named in the footer as Universal-Job AG. Import, attachments and direct apply are marked «coming soon». | Free, no login | Free | No | Nothing further — a CV builder only |
| SwissJobs.appSeven-day full-access trial, cancel monthly. No single-document purchase. | An ongoing search with many applications | Usable without an account; free account 5 documents/day, 10 per rolling week; then CHF 15/month or CHF 95/year | Yes — advert taken from our own job index, no pasting | Motivation letter, check against the advert, interview prep, application tracker, SECO sheet |
| bewerbung.chAI is credit-based: 3 credits on the free plan, 10 more for CHF 5. The free layout carries their logo. | No subscription, time-limited access | CHF 20/month or CHF 50/3 months, no automatic renewal | Not stated | Cover letters, interview training, paid data-entry service |
| cv-easy.chAccess ends after 14 days — a later revision costs again. | A short, dense burst of applications | CHF 12 one-time, 14 days of access | Not stated | Not stated |

What cvswiss.ch costs and does today — the starting point
A ranking only makes sense once it is clear what you are leaving. We read the cvswiss.ch pricing and features pages on 5 September 2026 without an account. Two routes are on offer: CHF 5 one-time for a single CV, explicitly aimed at the person applying to one job and, per the pricing card, with no edits after download; or CHF 15 a month for the Job-Search subscription with unlimited CVs and motivation letters, an AI job hunt, an export for the RAV form, and support for German, French, Italian and English. Creating and previewing is free; payment happens at the download.
The top of the features page is not design but tailoring: the «Job-First Approach» — paste a job posting, the AI writes the matching CV. That matters to any honest ranking, because tailoring to a specific advert is their headline promise and not our invention. If you have read somewhere that per-advert tailoring is a SwissJobs.app exclusive, you have read something untrue.
And the price for the rare case stands: if you need exactly one CV, CHF 5 once is cheaper than any monthly plan, ours included — the six alternatives below solve different problems.
1. lebenslauf.ch — free and login-free, and both claims hold
Verdict: the first place to go if price is why you are leaving. The home page promises «100% kostenlos», «Kein Login notwendig» and a free download; we read it on 4 September 2026 and found nothing that contradicts the promise. Five templates, adjustable design and section order, editing directly in the document rather than through a form, and a way back in via your email address.
Know the gaps before you switch: no tailoring to a specific advert, no check against an advert, no motivation-letter tool, no application tracker, no RAV proof-of-effort sheet. Several features on the page — CV import, uploading attachments, applying directly — carry a «coming soon» marker, which makes them announced rather than available.
And one framing point, hidden nowhere but easy to miss: the footer names Universal-Job AG, a Swiss staffing company, as the operator. A free tool from a recruitment business is entirely legitimate, but it is the shop window of a business rather than the business itself. Right for: anyone who needs one clean Swiss CV, is happy writing the wording themselves, and does not want to spend a franc.
2. SwissJobs.app — the advert is already inside the tool
Verdict: the alternative with the widest scope, and the only one where you do not paste the advert in. We rank ourselves second rather than first because the free tool serves the most common need — a decent CV at no cost — plainly better. Our advantage only starts to pay once you are applying repeatedly.
The difference is not the tailoring, it is where the advert comes from. Because we run the Swiss job index ourselves, the advert text is already there: you pick the job in the search, and the CV, the motivation letter, the check against that specific advert and the interview preparation are all built against it — no clipboard step. The application tracker fills the SECO job-search-efforts sheet from what you have recorded, ready to print; you still submit the proof in whatever form your RAV asks for.
The numbers, so you can check them: the tools open without an account, and the account is asked for when you save and from the second document. A free account allows 5 documents a day and 10 per rolling week, then a seven-day full-access trial, then CHF 15 a month or CHF 95 a year — which works out at CHF 7.92 a month — cancellable monthly. PDF and DOCX both come out without a watermark. Design runs on 54 variations, that is 2 layouts x 3 fonts x 9 accent colours, combined freely rather than picked from a fixed gallery.
Where we are weaker: there is no single-document purchase. If you want to download one thing and never return, with us that is a monthly plan or nothing. Right for: an active search where one or two adverts worth applying to appear every week.
3. bewerbung.ch — the route with no automatic renewal
Verdict: the alternative for anyone who does not want a subscription at all. On 5 September 2026 the pricing page listed CHF 20 for one month of Premium and CHF 50 for three months, both carrying the explicit note «Keine automatische Verlängerung». Per month that is dearer than cvswiss.ch and dearer than us — and in exchange it is guaranteed to expire rather than quietly renew.
The free plan is deliberately narrow: one layout, marked with their logo, plus three AI credits. Every AI action — cover letter, CV optimisation, interview training, personal summary — spends one credit; ten more cost CHF 5 and twenty-five cost CHF 10. That is a different model from unlimited use under a subscription, and depending on how much you write it is the cheaper or the dearer one.
Two things stand out. First, data entry as a paid service: for CHF 70 to 80 they type the details out of your old CV for you — unusual, and genuinely useful for someone with twenty years of career history on paper. Second, interview training inside the same account, which the pure CV builders do not have. Right for: people who want their data on Swiss servers, want a product with an end date, and are willing to pay for AI use item by item.
4. cv-easy.ch — CHF 12 once, with an expiry date
Verdict: the closest substitute for the cvswiss.ch single purchase, with one condition you have to read. On 4 September 2026 the site advertised «Einmalig CHF 12. Kein Abo. 14 Tage Zugriff inklusive» and covers German, French, Italian and English. Building is free; the download is what costs.
The condition sits in the same breath as the promise: access ends after 14 days. A CV is not a write-once document — it gets adjusted the moment a new vacancy appears. Come back to it in November and you pay again. Against CHF 5 at cvswiss.ch that is more expensive; against a monthly subscription it is less; and whether it pays depends entirely on how many applications fit inside those fourteen days.
Right for: a concentrated two-week burst of applications with several documents — and explicitly not for a search that runs for months.
5. Canva — design freedom, and what Swiss recruiters say about it
Verdict: the strongest candidate if appearance matters more to you than tailored wording — and a more interesting candidate than the standard warning suggests. That warning says a designed CV fails machine screening. Accounts from applicants in Switzerland tell a different story: Swiss recruiters advised them towards the designed layout, the photo and the permit-status line.
Our own measurement further down leans towards that observation rather than against it: for just under six in ten open adverts the application does not enter a nameable system but goes elsewhere, most often to the employer directly, where a person reads it. That is not a licence to neglect structure.
What Canva does not have: Swiss conventions built in, tailoring to an advert, a check, a motivation letter against the same text, a tracker. And on 4 September 2026 we could not read the price off the page because it loads in the browser — so we state no number. Right for: design-led roles where the document itself is a work sample.
6. Europass — free, official, and still not Swiss convention
Verdict: right for a narrowly defined case and wrong for the ordinary one. Europass is run by the European Commission, costs nothing and produces CVs in 31 languages. For applications to EU institutions, for qualification-recognition procedures and for mobility programmes the format is expected and sometimes required.
For an application to a Swiss employer it is a visible disadvantage. The Europass layout is recognisable as an EU standard, it does not follow local expectations on photo, structure and length, and it has no line for permit status, which Swiss dossiers customarily carry. Practitioner guides written by recruiters in Switzerland name exactly these points as what gets looked at here.
On languages, it is worth checking actual demand: in our index 41.5 per cent of open adverts are written in German, 21.4 per cent in English, 10.7 per cent in French and 1.6 per cent in Italian. Thirty-one languages therefore solve a problem this market does not pose. Right for: applications outside Switzerland and formal recognition procedures.
The ATS point, measured rather than asserted
Almost every tool on this list sells itself on machine screening, cvswiss.ch included. So here is the figure we can produce ourselves. Across the open Swiss adverts in our index, the application link leads into a system nameable from its destination address in 35.3 per cent of cases, to a job portal in 5.7 per cent, and elsewhere for the rest — predominantly to the employer's own site.
More telling than the share is the spread: 23 different systems. Workday is the most common at 22.8 per cent of those cases, then the Swiss vendor Prospective at 18.1 and SmartRecruiters at 12.8; Greenhouse, Workable, SAP SuccessFactors and Ashby follow in single figures. There is therefore no «ATS format» to optimise a CV for — there are two dozen readings of the same document.
What follows practically is unglamorous and applies to every tool on this page: clear headings, real text rather than text inside images, a file in a format every system opens, and the words from the advert where they belong. No vendor — us included — can promise you that a filter will let you through. What a tool can offer is a mechanism: a CV that uses the advert's own terms matches a keyword search better than a generic one does.
Who should stay with CVSwiss
Three cases argue clearly for staying. First, the single application: CHF 5 once beats any subscription, and anyone who glosses over that is selling you something. Second, wanting a quick second opinion without an account — their ATS check runs without registration, ours does not. Third, habit: if your details are already entered there and the flow works for you, switching is work without a return.
Switching is worth it if one of three things is true: you do not want to pay at all (then lebenslauf.ch), you do not want a renewing subscription (then bewerbung.ch or cv-easy.ch), or you are applying continuously and want search, documents, check and proof-of-effort in one place (then us). Everything else — more templates, more languages, nicer colours — decides less in this market than every vendor's marketing page implies, ours included.
One closing note that applies to every comparison page, this one included: prices and features change. Every figure here carries the day we read it. Check it on the vendor's own page before you buy.
What people report
First-hand accounts from the Swiss market cut against the assumption that the plainest possible CV is always the safe choice here: applicants report that Swiss recruiters advised them towards a designed layout, a photo and a line stating permit status — exactly the things an internationally framed machine-readability optimisation strips out.
Two public LinkedIn posts from 2025 by people working in Switzerland, one an account from the technology sector, the other a practitioner's guide written by a recruiter. Summarised as a pattern, not quoted.
The same practitioner guides describe the Swiss standard as a dossier rather than a single sheet: a two-page CV, a motivation letter, copies of diplomas and the Arbeitszeugnisse belong together, and language skills are stated with a level rather than as «good».
A practitioner's guide by a recruiter working in Switzerland, LinkedIn, 2025. Consistent with what our own tools produce.
Every price and feature statement comes from the vendors' own pages, fetched from this machine on 4, 5 and 6 September 2026; no third-party «best resume builder» article was used as evidence. Where a value could not be read on the vendor's page — the Canva price, several fields at cv-easy.ch — it says «not stated» rather than carrying a guess. The market figures come from our analysis of the open Swiss adverts in our index as at 5 September 2026, excluding apprenticeships and internships; we publish shares, never absolute index sizes. Classification into an applicant-tracking system is done from the destination host of the application link and only recognises systems nameable from that address, so 35.3 per cent is a lower bound. Prices change; check them yourself before you buy.
