jobscout24.ch alternatives: the honest ranking

Updated:

In short

Do not switch to jobs.ch or jobup.ch: both belong to JobCloud AG along with JobScout24, so you change the interface, not the provider. Outside that group five addresses are worth having, in this order: Job-Room by arbeit.swiss (free, official, just over seventy-five thousand positions on 5 September 2026), SwissJobs.app (our own index, with the application written from the advert), Indeed Switzerland (the broadest aggregation), regional boards such as ostjob.ch, and LinkedIn for English-language roles. Stay with JobScout24 for apprenticeships or free templates.

  1. SwissJobs.app: Over 21,000 open Swiss roles from ATS systems, company sites and LinkedIn in one place — and from any advert, straight into a CV, a motivation letter, a CV check and interview prep. The RAV job-search-efforts form fills itself from your application tracker. Free to use; the account is asked for at save.

The order follows usefulness to someone leaving JobScout24, not size — which is why a free government site is first and we are not. Each entry gives the verdict, then the checkable fact with the date it was read, then the drawback.

JobScout24 86 154 (read 4 September 2026), Job-Room 75 231 (5 September 2026), ostjob.ch 6 413 (4 September 2026). Self-reported figures, each counted and bounded differently — they prove neither distinct adverts nor overlap. jobs.ch states no total on its job list.

  • jobs.ch, jobup.ch and JobScout24 belong to JobCloud AG. Searching all three means searching the same provider three times — which says nothing about the adverts themselves.
  • Job-Room showed just over seventy-five thousand positions on 5 September 2026, JobScout24 roughly eighty-six thousand on 4 September. Both are self-reported and counted differently.
  • Overlap between our index and JobCloud: no advert of ours applies via jobscout24.ch, 0.1 per cent via jobup.ch. And 43.6 per cent of the addresses our adverts apply to carry exactly one advert.
  • The Swiss detail international boards miss: 23.6 per cent of the adverts in our index state the workload in the job title, 13.6 per cent as a range such as 80–100 per cent.

Who to choose

Not for size — JobScout24 and Job-Room are bigger. Because here the search and the application are the same place.

Choose SwissJobs.app if

  • Pick the job directly — We run the job index ourselves. The advert text is already there, and everything else is written against exactly that text — no searching, no copying, no pasting.

  • Four tools instead of one — CV, letter for the same advert, a check against that advert and interview preparation, from one account and the same data.

  • The RAV form — Job-search efforts are filled from the application tracker and printed as the official SECO sheet. No other portal in this ranking has it.

  • Word export without a watermark — PDF and DOCX, both clean. Many providers hand out a text file on the free plan or stamp the document.

  • Start without an account — The tools open without signing in. The account is asked for to save and from the second document — the first download needs none.

  • Four languages, Italian included — Interface and documents in German, French, Italian and English. JobScout24 exists in German, French and English.

Checked 5 September 2026. "Not stated" means it could not be read on the provider's own site — not that it does not exist.

First the concession: what JobScout24 does better

A ranking that talks down the site you are leaving is worthless. JobScout24 holds three things nothing below replaces: its own apprenticeship board with its own filter, free templates and an advice section with no account required, and company reviews. For jobseekers the site costs nothing.

The reason to look elsewhere is a different one: reach is not variety. On 4 September 2026 JobScout24 advertised roughly eighty-six thousand open positions. The question is not whether that is a lot — it is what else exists beside it.

1. Job-Room by arbeit.swiss — the largest free list outside JobCloud

Verdict: the tab everyone should have open, and almost nobody thinks of as a job board.

Job-Room is the portal of the Swiss public employment service. On 5 September 2026 its search showed just over seventy-five thousand positions — the same order of magnitude as JobScout24, free, ad-free, owned by no media group. It also carries what no private board can rebuild: for vacancies under the reporting duty, what the site itself calls an information advantage, ahead of the open market.

Honestly: the interface is a government application and the search takes patience. If you are registered with an RAV you have no choice anyway — arbeit.swiss states on its own jobseeker page that private online services may assist, but anything with a deadline must be filed through the Job-Room eServices or the route the RAV or unemployment fund names.

2. SwissJobs.app — when the advert should turn straight into the application

Verdict: a smaller index, but the only one the dossier comes out of.

Our index barely overlaps JobCloud: not one advert here applies via jobscout24.ch, 0.1 per cent via jobup.ch. The difference comes after the search. You pick an advert, and the CV, the letter, the check against that posting and the RAV record are written from it — no pasting, the text is already there.

Search and email alerts are free, the tools open without an account, and a free account gives five documents a day and ten per rolling week, then seven days of full access and CHF 15 a month. JobScout24 charges nothing — that is what this line costs.

3. Indeed Switzerland — the broadest aggregation, with a Japanese parent

Verdict: use it for reach, not for Swiss conventions.

Indeed pulls in vacancies from company sites that reach no Swiss board at all; the price is noise — sponsored listings, repeats, agencies posting one role several times.

Indeed's own terms of use, last updated 29 June 2026, state that Indeed and its affiliates are owned directly or indirectly by the listed Japanese parent Recruit Holdings Co., Ltd. If you are leaving JobScout24 over the ownership question, this is not a Swiss provider — it is a different group, and workload percentages, permit lines and the Arbeitszeugnis are not concepts it knows.

4. ostjob.ch and the regional boards — when the commute decides

Verdict: small, but dense exactly where the national boards thin out.

ostjob.ch calls itself the leading job portal for Eastern Switzerland and showed just over six thousand positions on 4 September 2026. In our index 7.2 per cent of adverts sit in Eastern Swiss towns — the region is real, it is never the main stage. A regional board makes sense when you are not going to move anyway: it does not replace the national search, it filters it better than a location field.

5. LinkedIn Jobs — for English-language and international roles

Verdict: first choice when the role is advertised in English anyway, last choice for anything with a trade behind it.

A good fifth of the adverts in our index are written in English, and those roles sit almost entirely in pharma, IT, finance and international groups, where LinkedIn is denser than any Swiss board. For hospitality, care, construction, retail and apprenticeships it is close to useless, an account is mandatory, and the ranking is one nobody outside can inspect. One warning for newcomers: an advert in English does not mean the workplace runs in English.

jobs.ch and jobup.ch: the alternative that is not one

The most common switch is the one that changes nothing. jobs.ch, jobup.ch and JobScout24 belong to JobCloud AG — JobScout24's own About page says so. Searching all three to search more widely means searching the same provider three times.

That is deliberately not a claim about the adverts: we have not compared the inventories. The brands do differ — jobup.ch is the Romandie address. It is the change of provider that is not one.

Who should stay with JobScout24

Stay if you are looking for an apprenticeship, if free templates and an advice section are enough, or if you are searching around Zurich, Bern or Basel and want plenty of choice on one site.

Add something if you are registered with an RAV, want to search in Italian, your region disappears on the national boards, or you would rather have a version written against each advert than one template document.

A warning that applies to every site here: a hit count on a homepage is advertising, not a description of the market. Everything on this page was checked on 5 September 2026.

What people report

  • People registered with an RAV treat Job-Room as a filing counter rather than a job board: they search on the commercial portals and transfer everything into the Job-Room form at month end. The portal sits at the end of the search instead of the start — and hardly anyone looks at the vacancies it carries itself.

A recurring pattern in posts by Swiss RAV advisers and jobseekers on LinkedIn; a small number of posts, not a representative finding.

Figures for JobScout24, jobs.ch, jobup.ch, jobcloud.ch, ostjob.ch and Indeed come from the providers' own pages, read on 4 September 2026; the Job-Room count and quotations were read on the rendered page on 5 September 2026. Self-reported hit counts are marketing figures — every portal counts differently. Our own numbers are shares of the adverts open on 5 September 2026; we do not publish absolute index sizes.
