What is an alternative to Novoresume?

Updated:

In short

Seven tools replace Novorésumé for an application in Switzerland: SwissJobs.app, cvswiss.ch, FlowCV, Europass, bewerbung.ch, lebenslauf.ch and Zety. Our pick for Swiss adverts is SwissJobs.app, because the CV is written against an advert already sitting on this side of the screen instead of one you paste in; after seven free days that costs CHF 15 monthly or CHF 95 yearly. Novorésumé keeps one advantage none of the subscriptions can match: a single payment that never renews itself. As of 28 August 2026.

One thing decides this question for anyone applying in Switzerland, and it sits on Novorésumé's own pricing page. The free Basic tier allows a «Max 1-Page Resume», in a single version, with no cover letter. That is the American convention, and Switzerland does not follow it. The federal application-tips page on arbeit.swiss lists eight blocks a CV should contain — title, personal details including a photograph, work history, education and training, language skills, special knowledge, interests and references — chronological and free of gaps, and states that «a CV should be no longer than three pages». One page is not a tight fit here; it is the wrong measure. If you are arriving from a market where the one-page resume is gospel, this is the habit to unlearn first.

Everything below was read on each provider's own site on 28 August 2026: novoresume.com, cvswiss.ch, flowcv.com, bewerbung.ch, lebenslauf.ch, the European Commission's Europass portal, zety.com and the arbeit.swiss application-tips page in all four of its languages. Euro and dollar figures are converted at the European Central Bank reference rates of 28 August 2026 — EUR 1 to CHF 0.9364, USD 1 to roughly CHF 0.80 — and rounded. The franc prices do not move with the exchange rate; the converted ones do.

  • What a year costs, everything read on 28 August 2026: Europass and lebenslauf.ch nothing · FlowCV nothing on the free tier, roughly CHF 48 with Pro · SwissJobs.app CHF 95 on the annual plan · cvswiss.ch CHF 5 for one document, otherwise twelve monthly charges of CHF 15 · bewerbung.ch CHF 50 per three-month package · Novorésumé Premium roughly CHF 131, paid once, renewing never · Zety roughly CHF 57 on the annual package but a little over CHF 270 on the four-weekly one.
  • The comparison that flatters Novorésumé and almost nobody makes: a year of Novorésumé Premium is about CHF 131 and does not renew. A year of Zety on its four-weekly plan is a little over CHF 270 and renews itself. Both are international tools with no Swiss format — the whole difference is in the billing.
  • Novorésumé's free tier allows a «Max 1-Page Resume» and a single version. arbeit.swiss describes eight blocks, an unbroken chronology and «no longer than three pages». One page rarely holds that, which is why the free tier and a Swiss dossier are a poor match.
  • Novorésumé's own language menu offers Danish, German marked «BETA», English and Spanish. French and Italian are not on it. Europass offers thirty-one languages; cvswiss.ch and SwissJobs.app offer four.
  • 13.1 per cent of live adverts carry a workload range such as «80–100%» in the title itself, and among adverts that mention a Pensum in the title at all, 58.4 per cent give a range rather than a single figure. A CV with no field for the Pensum omits the very thing the advert is headed with.
  • Of the live adverts whose language can be determined, 14.1 per cent are in French and 2.3 per cent in Italian — better than one in six. Novorésumé has no interface for either.
  • Where a language requirement is stated at all, more than one language is demanded in 28.6 per cent of cases and three or more in 7 per cent. Ranked by how often each is asked for: German 66.7 per cent, English 42.6, French 21.4, Italian 4. Applying seriously here therefore tends to mean two CVs rather than one — which is exactly what a single stored version cannot give you.
  • arbeit.swiss asks for your Arbeitszeugnisse — the written employer references every Swiss job ends with — complete, in reverse chronological order, and collected into a single PDF alongside the CV. No international CV generator has a place for them, because outside the German-speaking countries they do not exist.

Who to choose

The difference is not the tool, it is what the tool starts from: with us the advert is already there. You pick the job straight from our own Swiss job index — with Novorésumé you find the advert somewhere else and paste it in.

Choose Novorésumé if

  • Novorésumé — more templates, more layout control, a very polished interface.

Choose SwissJobs.app if

  • Pick the job directly — We run the job index ourselves. The advert text is already loaded, and everything else is written against exactly that text — no searching, no copying, no pasting.

  • Four tools, not one — CV, motivation letter for the same advert, a CV check against that advert, and interview preparation — one account, the same data.

  • The RAV sheet — Your job-search efforts are filled from your application tracker and printed as the official SECO form. No other tool in this comparison has it.

  • Word export, no watermark — PDF and DOCX, both clean. Many tools hand you a text file on the free plan, or stamp a watermark on the document.

  • Start without an account — The tools open without signing up. The account is asked for to save and from the second document — the first download needs none.

Novorésumé

A Danish product — the footer names Novorésumé ApS, Bredgade 45B in Copenhagen. The editor is well built and the templates are decent. The homepage advertises «18M+» users; the pricing page of the same company says «16M+». Also from the homepage: «73% of users get more interviews» and «2x faster in getting you hired». Neither figure comes with a method, so read them as the vendor's claims about itself rather than as measurements.

Price, read on 28 August 2026: Basic is free. Premium is EUR 19.99 for a month, EUR 39.99 for a quarter or EUR 139.99 for a year — roughly CHF 19, CHF 37 and CHF 131. The sentence that matters is in their own FAQ: «There Is No Automatic Subscription.» You pay once, nothing renews, and there is a refund within fourteen days. That is genuinely rare in this category and it is the strongest reason to stay.

Three limits for a Swiss dossier. The free tier: one page, one version, fixed layouts, no cover letter, three fonts. You may try Premium features in a Basic account but you cannot download a document that uses them. The languages: the footer offers Danish, German marked «BETA», English (UK and US) and Spanish — no French, no Italian. And the fields: there is no place for the Pensum in per cent, no line for your work permit, and no section for Arbeitszeugnisse (the Swiss employer references), because nowhere outside this country needs them.

SwissJobs.app

One account holding both halves of the job: the adverts and the document you answer them with. Pick a vacancy here, and the CV is written against that vacancy — nothing to copy, nothing to paste, because the posting text never left the site. Every other tool below has to ask you for that text before it can do anything. Whichever of German, French, Italian or English you are reading in is the language the finished documents come out in.

Cost: seven days free, then CHF 15 monthly or CHF 95 for a full year. Billed in francs, so nothing is converted and no exchange rate moves underneath you.

Who it suits: people applying steadily over weeks who want a separate dossier per advert. The honest limit: we are a subscription and it does renew. Novorésumé is not — if you write one CV, download it and touch nothing for a year, you will pay less and worry less there. We also offer far fewer templates and colour themes, and if you want to pay nothing at all, lebenslauf.ch or Europass is the right answer.

cvswiss.ch

The Swiss provider whose core feature is the same as ours: paste a posting, get a CV built for it. Documents in four languages, an ATS check, an Arbeitszeugnis decoder, and an export for the RAV/ORP job-search form that unemployment benefit requires. «Swiss data protection» is printed on their own pricing page as a selling point — which tells you what this audience weighs when the alternative is a Danish or American provider.

Cost, as of 28 August 2026: a single CV for CHF 5 paid once; for continuous use, CHF 15 each month covering as many CVs and letters as you write, cancellable at the end of any month, with money back inside seven days.

Who it suits: if you need exactly one dossier, this is the cheapest paid option on the list. The limits are on their own page: the one-time purchase is marked «No edits after download», so once it is downloaded it is fixed, and the AI features are explicitly rate-limited. They also have no adverts of their own — you have to bring the posting text yourself.

FlowCV

The free tier here picks up precisely where Novorésumé's leaves off. You get one CV and one cover letter, as many PDF downloads as you want, no watermark, the full template set, complete control over the design, and — the point — nothing capping the number of pages.

Price: free. Pro is USD 5 a month billed yearly, so USD 60 a year or about CHF 48, and adds unlimited CVs and cover letters, unlimited imports, an application tracker and AI features.

Who it suits: people working in English who want a plain, well-set PDF, and anyone for whom the one-page cap was the single objection to Novorésumé. Arguments against: you drive it in English and the writing help is English too; the layout follows international rather than Swiss habits; and tailoring per advert means duplicating documents, which sits behind Pro. Pro bills once a year and renews — the exact thing Novorésumé deliberately does not do.

Europass

The European Commission's CV tool. You build a profile and generate as many CVs from it as you like. The site itself is offered in thirty-one languages, German, French and Italian among them — the three official languages Swiss adverts are actually written in. It is the exact counterweight to Novorésumé, which offers neither of the latter two.

Price: free, permanently, with no payment details and no page limit.

Who it suits: EU institutions, internships, exchange programmes, and anyone who would rather hand in an official form than a self-designed page. It earns its place if you are relocating and need the same career history twice, in two languages. Against it: one grid for every occupation and every country, no relationship to any particular vacancy, and the fact that Switzerland sits outside the Union — a Swiss reader expects a designed dossier, not a completed form.

bewerbung.ch

A Swiss provider, run by BKS Service GmbH, that bills its AI features as credits: one use, one credit. The free account holds three credits and one layout carrying the provider's logo. Data sits on Swiss servers according to the provider, and there is a school edition and a separate ATS product.

Cost: one month of Premium including ten credits comes to CHF 20, three months including thirty to CHF 50; both packages carry the explicit note that nothing renews automatically. Top-ups run at CHF 5 for ten uses and CHF 10 for twenty-five.

Who it suits: readers who want what Novorésumé offers — pay once, nothing recurring — but with the provider inside Switzerland. Premium includes documents in English, French and Italian plus automatic translation of the CV. The limits matter for an English-speaking reader: the interface itself is German, so you need enough German to drive it. Tailoring per advert spends a credit each time, and having them type up your old CV for you costs CHF 80 on top, or CHF 70 in the three-month package.

lebenslauf.ch

A generator run by the staffing firm Universal-Job AG under the banner «100% kostenlos und ohne Login» — no charge and no account. It offers five layouts; you set the typeface, the colour, the size and the line spacing yourself, type straight into the document instead of filling in a form, drag sections into the order you want, export a PDF, and can hand out a link that always resolves to your newest version.

Cost: none at all. Nothing to register — an email address is what brings you back to an unfinished document.

Who it suits: anyone who hit Novorésumé's one-page wall and simply wants a clean, unlimited standard CV for free. Two limits for this audience specifically: the interface exists only in German, which rules it out if you have just arrived and do not read it; and several advertised features — importing an existing CV, uploading diplomas and work references, applying directly — are marked «coming soon» on the site itself. There is also no tailoring to a specific advert.

Zety

Novorésumé's closest relative: the same construction, the same template logic, the same scoring checker, plus dedicated country versions for Germany, France and Italy. If you leave Novorésumé looking for something built the same way, this is where you land — and the difference between the two is worth knowing before you do.

Price on 28 August 2026: a fourteen-day trial at USD 1.95, then automatically USD 25.95 every four weeks. Four-weekly means thirteen charges a year, a little over CHF 270 in total. The annual package is USD 71.40 once, about CHF 57. The free account downloads your CV only as a text file; PDF and Word belong to the paid tier.

Who it suits: people applying in Germany, France or Italy, where zety.de, zety.fr and zety.it are each built for that market and we are not. The limit, and it is why moving here from Novorésumé is often a step backwards: Novorésumé has no subscription, Zety has one that renews every four weeks. And there is no Swiss variant of Zety in any of its three continental languages.

Which one to pick

Applying week after week and wanting each advert answered with its own dossier: SwissJobs.app or cvswiss.ch. Wanting one CV at no cost: the free FlowCV tier, Europass where an official look helps, lebenslauf.ch if German is not a barrier. Prepared to pay but not to subscribe: Novorésumé Premium, or bewerbung.ch when the provider should be inside Switzerland.

Applying in Germany, France or Italy: Zety is built for those markets — but take the annual package rather than the four-weekly one, which is the same company at roughly five times the price. Applying in French or Italian: Novorésumé drops out, because those interfaces do not exist.

Three questions settle the choice, and the editor is none of them: how often you apply, in which language, and whether the CV has to match one specific advert or simply look good in general. Only the last one really separates these tools.
